MAGA types saw themselves fill space because people agreed or were scared of them, not because they were loud, obnoxious assholes no one wanted to deal with.

They're learning people are ready to deal, and that in these spaces what they heard as others voices were only echoes of their own.

I'm genuinely looking forward to this, and it giving me the excuse to revisit BSG. "No, no, I've claimed the tv for the next month or two for reasons. Very, very good reasons."
Hey here's a bit o' good news! I'm making very good progress with my Battlestar Galactica book and I SUPER CAN'T WAIT TO SHARE IT WITH YOU ALL!
Unsurprisingly, I want to *vibrate out of my skin* every time I remember that @moryan.bsky.social is writing a book about BSG. Words cannot encompass how *absolutely hyped* I am.

A corollary of this is I do not take seriously any "leftist" that denies or defends any massacre or genocide carried out by nominally left-wing dictatorship regimes. People are people and they do not deserve collective punishment.

Looking at you, PSL and Code Pink.
we’ve known Chomsky was a piece of shit since he tried to downplay and deny the Khmer Rouge genocide back in the 70s, but I’m glad more people are *finally* figuring this out

Genuinely curious: If your family is American, what brought them here?

The fact that the three ICE/CBP agents involved in the two Minnesota shootings have nearly 40 years of combined experience should be the nail in the coffin of any "training" rhetoric

Today we learned that paleontologist Jack Horner (the same guy who helped give us "Jurassic Park") is in the Epstein Files. As a paleontologist, I feel compelled to say something because this touches my field and I want to make my stance clear on this...

the Epstein files make it very clear why the MeToo backlash was so extreme and why so much of elite society preferred Donald Trump ruling us like a king to the barest hint of accountability

One must assume from their having a Twitter account and posting there that these folks are pro-CSAM billionaires.
We've received a lot of comments from the Bluesky community tonight, so we want to take the time to clarify our positions.

The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

Each time I point out that the Republican platform is simple (they want to sexually abuse children, and they want you to pay for it), a few people think I'm exaggerating, and usually some small number of people think I'm being sardonic or something. I mean it quite literally.

They come up with these weird ideas, all to capture more data and prove that workers are an enemy of profit when workers ARE profit. Just weirdos. Shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near basic needs or civic services.

here’s why this completely reasonable strategic move upsets me: anyone who demonizes trans people should be shouted out of the room. i don’t think it’s too much to ask that dems proudly support trans people, like they do with any other constituent, instead of viewing them as a liability to manage
It's going to be unsexy and not grab the most headlines, but expect any wins for trans people to be done with almost zero fanfare to prevent from Republicans from demonizing them.

We should be saying this more. Involvement, approval, or turning a blind eye to it appears to be an actual requirement for advancement and good-standing in the Republican Party.
Pedophilia is a prerequisite for being a Republican, many people are saying this

Tillis is retiring. He doesn’t have to fear being primaried or facing the general electorate.

He’s voting to fund ICE amid these atrocities because he agrees with what they’re doing.
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

I don’t think any of us will be fully happy with the Democratic Party in our lifetimes simply because it has the unenviable task of managing a coalition which spans the entire political spectrum left of Franco. This is also why we’re stuck with it forever.
