It’s almost like the Democrats were handed a winning midterm slogan that knits together two vital issues.
Build housing, not concentration camps
Imagine if even a fraction of what this administration plans to spend on cages went toward housing people.

Just over 750,000 people in the U.S. are getting infected with COVID every day.

The risk of developing Long COVID goes up with each infection.

The upper bound for developing Long COVID after three+ infections is 47%.

The average American has had over 5 infections.

People often defend Schumer's limp messaging to me by saying he needs to reach out to the uncommitteds and the undecideds and the fence-sitters.

But you can't do that AT THE EXPENSE OF YOUR BASE. Because if you do, this happens:
This is a huge deal. After years of leading in fundraising, Dem small donors are (rightly) pissed off at the spam texts and emails, as well as at congressional leadership. Meanwhile, GOP billionaire money is hitting record levels. Perfect storm.

it's so, so, so frustrating how they act like people applying for asylum are subject to removal proceedings. that is not the law!!!!
Just heard back from DHS on why they abruptly expedited Ramos' asylum hearing:

“These are regular removal proceedings. This is standard procedure and there is nothing retaliatory about enforcing the nation’s immigration laws. He will receive full due process."

(This is not standard procedure.)

This is at least as important as the content of the post. They claim his posts are official communiques from POTUS. That account has been used to threaten war. To announce punitive tariffs.

Who has that power besides POTUS?

He's racist, we been knew that. That's what the conniptions over "woke" and "DEI" and immigrants and everything else has always been about.

You wanna be useful? Rebuke this shit with deeds and hire us. Stand with us. Respect us and our leadership.

I don't need pity or condolences. I need a job.

I just think all politicians should have to do at least one press conference with small children because I think it would tell us a lot about their character

It is a strange thing that this political moment contains both one of the most truly vile political figures ever to walk the earth and this nuclear charm bomb.

Honestly, this proves Obama’s birth certificate was real. If I could make fake documents, this dude would be first on the list.

the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

What real heroism looks like is you drive past a school and it’s 7am and it’s -3 out and there are four dads posted at every door scanning every passing car to be sure it’s not someone coming to take the children. And you drive by at noon and they’re there. And you drive by at 3pm and they’re there
Anyway the real heroes of Minnesota are the countless volunteers doing boring shifts where nothing happens. The mom of three delivering food to 40 families in her kids’ school. The dad standing at the door of an elementary with a whistle for hours. The drivers endlessly looping, seeing nothing.

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.
