Today's special election results in a GOP hold in a staunchly red area of South Carolina. Also, as in the vast majority of elections this year), a sizable Democratic overperformance:
Final results in the South Carolina #HD88 (Trump+35) special election:

John Lastinger (R)- 62.3%
Chuck Hightower (D)- 37.7%

10 point Democratic overperformance from 2024 in the suburbs of Columbia!

2 decades ago people warned that if we didn’t hold the torturer’s accountable, we’d end up here.
Imagine that a decade ago someone had told you that in 2025 Americans would be torrenting a handheld video of a Canadian television screen to see a 60 minutes broadcast about Trump‘s torture prisons.

If you’re traveling this holiday season, please wear a mask.

Flu and Covid are both surging. No one wants to be sick for the holidays.

A well fitted respirator like an N95 protects you and those around you.

Give yourself (and others!) the gift of good health this year!

As I’ve said before — the economy is astrology for men.
The economy is a paranormal entity that our greatest dimensional scholars (macroeconomists) understand only superficially. They have induced a variety of changes in it by manipulating arcane forces like "money supply" with some success. But it remains protean and unpredictable.

These declines are MASSIVE.

And the comparative silence in media coverage is absolutely DAMNING.

“Why are ppl always so afraid of crime?”

THIS is why. When crime goes up, media trips over itself to report it.

Falls to pre-war (!!) levels? Just CRICKETS.
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

We are living through a reboot of the medieval Enclosure Movement, which historian Karl Polanyi called "a revolution of the rich against the poor:"

The rich & powerful simply seized public goods & claimed them as their own private property, impoverishing & starving to death much of the population.

Air Support Project is building a really cool high-quality low-cost flat-pack air purifier inspired by Corsi-Rosenthal boxes but way more transportable. Donate to help them bring this device to market.
Small acts of care add up. We are grateful to everyone who has given to and shared our Givebutter campaign.

This progress belongs to the many individuals who choose to support safer indoor air for more people.

Please consider donating or sharing our givebutter campaign.

Some things about indoor air quality (IAQ) that I think many people cannot wrap their heads around:
1) dirty air can directly affect your health like dirty water
2) in most places, the air is not monitored or filtered like water is
3) water quality is centralized but air quality is distributed
December 23, 2025 at 10:09 PM
If you're traveling, get a portable air quality monitor that can check the CO2 level. If CO2 is over 800, the air is not being ventilated properly. The Aranet monitor is one of the most common but it's also kind of pricey. This Temtop model is a good alternative. www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1K7GNP...

Wow. Genuinely shocked, and a hugely consequential decision.

Importantly, this is a case where @martylederman.bsky.social's amicus brief appears to have made a MAJOR impact. Before he wrote it, courts were sidestepping the "regular forces" issue entirely. And that's what the Trump admin lost on.
NEW: By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocks Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to assist immigration agents. A majority holds that he likely lacks authority to do so. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

Many get sick while traveling.

One major reason is they don’t realize mass transit is high risk because airline CEOs lied about viral spread early in the pandemic and lobbied the CDC to lower precautions.

To make the most of your holiday, take precautions like wearing a mask when you travel!
