I am honestly having some trouble following “the health care industry is a huge powerful malevolent machine ripping off America and we want you to negotiate directly with it for your insulin.”
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

This is really incredible. The government's battle to deport Abrego Garcia has apparently been based on a lie from the start. Not even the "gang affiliation" lie or the "human smuggling" lie, but the more basic assertion that he was ordered to be deported in the first place.
🚨Judge Xinis finds that, incredibly, Mr. Abrego Garcia was never ordered deported in 2019. She notes that every since this saga began all the way back in March, the government has NEVER been able to produce any evidence that the immigration judge actually issued a removal order.

Remember this as a bipartisan coalition of folks in Congress tell us over and over again that they're trying to protect children online. Meanwhile the US embassy is saying even kids can't have private social media accounts if they want to visit the US.
One under-appreciated part of this: note the bit below about “and their dependents.”

Under the Trump admin’s new policy, dependent children of visa applicants are not allowed to have their social media set to private during the entire visa process. They MUST make their social media public.
From the US Embassy in London today.

What's especially crazy about this is that it's an unbelievably cheap intervention. It costs approximately zero dollars and saves lives. There is essentially no material elements to compete over. There's nothing left but animus.
More research showing a thing the GC movement wishes to deny trans people, in this case respecting their name and pronouns, is a thing that improves mental health and could prevent a death by suicide, yet still they persist.
“Transgender and nonbinary youth (ages 13 to 24) whose pronouns are respected were 31 percent less likely to attempt suicide in the past year than those whose pronouns are not respected, according to a new report from The Trevor Project”

The fact that we already have Health Savings Accounts and the most marketized health care system in the world, and it is also the most expensive system does not seem to put a dent in these guy's theories of health economics

If the US had bombed Machado’s boat it would have been the total and ultimate death of irony
Nobel Peace Prize Winner María Corina Machado’s escape from Venezuela was particularly risky because her team had to inform the US military that she was escaping so they wouldn’t mistake her boat for an alleged narco boat and bomb it.

WOW. So this is obviously a huge violation of this man's rights, and it illustrates a few things we're seeing broadly:

- DHS officers are ignoring peoples' IDs and instead requiring screening through their own systems
- Confirms @404media.co's reports of use of DHS's facial recognition app.

An insane political move. One of the recurring complaints about immigration in the U.S. is that those seeking asylum jump the line. This is line-jumping — but for rich people, not those in need.

The secretary of state called it a "wasteful" diversity move, according to an internal department cable seen by Reuters.

Elon Musk is worse at hiding it but this is the problem with all billionaires: they are a threat to democratic governance. They have an insatiable need to own and control everything. If you want to be free you have to curb their power, and demand political leaders who understand that

Grain of salt I'm not a doctor, but I've never heard of a course of treatment where a geriatric patient gets weekly if not daily IVs for months on end and it's just... no big deal, nothing in particular going on, unremarkable routine care.
It is kinda wild how the president is evidently receiving some kind of regular medical care that requires IVs and we don't know what's up

44% of Dems/leaners are ANGRY at federal government

Higher than both first Trump term and GOP anger during Biden; in fact, highest level for either side since '97

Likely goes some way in explaining recent turnout patterns
