"It's OK, Zohran, say yes and move on, I'm not really hiding it anymore and we're having too much fun here..."
Reporter: Are you affirming that you think the president is a fascist?

Mamdani: I've spoken about --

Trump: Just say yes, it's easier than explaining.

It's cool that the President of the United States is as trivially easy to drive to fawning sycophancy as to murderous anger, right? That emotional seesaw is... good for the nation, overall, correct?
Trump frickin' loves this guy lmao

Listen, these user-friendly sycophantic multipurpose LLM-company chatbots may be unreliable, have no concept of true or false nor right and wrong, be subject to gross manipulation, cause suicides, and have terrible economic and environmental impact, but at least they're also endangering non-users!
Finally, I know of at least one case where the letter writer, deep into an episode of AI-induced psychosis, asked the LLM why scientists were not responding. The machine suggested that perhaps the scientists were trying to steal his discovery.

This will get someone killed sooner or later.

One thing I think none of us were properly prepared for about late stage capitalism was how the most "powerful" people in the world would somehow also be the most shit-kickingly stupid insecure losers in the world at the same time.

Today is the day to repost this meme about International Men's Day, one of the most unironically wholesome memes that has ever been made.

Shoutout to all my fellow champs, chiefs, and kings. ✊

I think part of the reason non-monogamy is so prevalent in TTRPG spaces is once you have to regularly schedule five adults to be in the same room at the same time, the idea of working around multiple people's schedules where they don't all have to intersect is way less intimidating.

Happy International Men's Day to all the guys who'll think they're oh-so-clever and edgy for performatively asking about it in March!

I do think we’ll look back on this period of American history as producing - if not being exemplified by - several discrete, yet related (and maybe even mutually compounding) mass hysteriae.
Antisemitism is a lot like Qanon child abuse conspiracies in that there’s this real and bad phenomenon and, parallel to that, what can only be described as a large scale mass psychosis about a mostly fictional version of the same phenomenon

Knowing the key to understanding right-wing politics in the US is understanding wrestling, they see government as kayfabe, I will ask my more wrestling-adjacent friends if this MTG/Trump break is a face turn by MTG (still a racist anti-semite, don't get me wrong) or a false break like Musk/Trump.

this goes right along with my theory that the AI obsession in *users* is often bc…

1. they were never educated (esp "ipad generation") & don't know how computers work

2. our tools and services are all SO AWFUL NOW, degraded at best, actively user-hostile at worst

Computers were a skill. They were taught in classrooms as a skill. Skills give you power over your tools because you work them as an expert and that is leverage to multiply externally.

And then computers became an A/B tested telemetry-based advertising conduit to brains for SaaS recurring revenue.

I like how full text search of every book and human thought ever was a SOLVED PROBLEM in 2001, and now dicks at search engines and my own phone – a piece of silicon faster to respond than God was ever imagined in scripture – prevent it from working, _as a retroactive infantilizing design choice_.

I guess I wanted to point out this guy was very clearly straight because…I mean it’s just important for there to be straight white representation in the “seeing the world as it is, not assuming it’s a conspiracy against the dominant culture, & easily acknowledging the struggle” cinematic universe.
A few weeks ago I was talking politics with a local, highly straight, bartender.

All the sudden he said: “Well, I think a big part of the problem is that so many of the people who would’ve been our progressive leaders died of AIDS & can’t help us now.”

And I’ve thought about that every day since.

if we take it to be true that the tariffs are aimed at getting americans to buy US-made products, then what's the point of rolling them back when they become painful? the entire point is to cause financial pain to change consumer behavior. what's the strategy here?

Man it's like the wealthy just lie to your face regularly to try to intimidate the working class into falling in line, knowing full well that none of their claims will actually hold water and minor gains from the working class won't really hurt them tangibly.

Weird.

Multiple Black Mirror episodes against this one, just ages of science fiction warnings about this particular Torment Nexus predating the horrifying subscription models of late capitalism, even...
But to top it off, why are "future screens" always CLEAR? What a HORRIBLE idea that somehow won't die...
Nightmarish idea for a startup tbh
