I’d argue that it is key. Stealing a citizen’s phone is neither necessary nor proper for ICE agents to conduct their federal responsibilities. It is plainly unlawful conduct that local prosecutors could investigate and charge without Supremacy Clause problems getting in the way and no justification.
Not the key part of this story, obviously... but they *sold* his phone? WTF?
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

Maybe the most insane detail to me is that the ICE agents stole his phone and sold it. Just operating with complete impunity.

He's also correct that an investigation of the widow of Renee Nicole Good is a disgusting misuse of everything he and his colleagues have ever worked for, and perhaps anything they ever could work for. How can he do any good at a Department of Justice straying so far from actual justice?

This is a good question. Let's talk about it!

Why do civil servants resign in protest? Couldn't they have done more good on the inside? 🧵
Sincerely wanting to understand why is honest people resigning, being considered an act of bravery or somehow fruitful. It’s one thing if the admin felt embarrassed by the resignations & rectified course. But that’s not happening, so now our institutions are just left with fewer people of integrity.
Breaking: NYT now says *six* federal prosecutors in Minnesota have just resigned over the Justice Department's push to investigate the widow of Renee Good and the department's reluctance to investigate the ICE agent who shot Good, according to people with knowledge of their decision.

They'll staff an entire agency hierarchy with people lacking skills other than looking good on Fox News or typing into ChatGPT. None possess details on how to run the agency to maximize fascism. All they can do is send angry emails, fire people, and explore fascism opportunities haphazardly.

Yeah man all my friends in Minnesota are buying high viz vests and forming human chains at class dismissals because ICE is targeting and tear gassing schools. I wonder why parents would want information about that.

Quite a few comments from people saying they'd like to write more. Since Renee Good's death, I've been thinking about all the people out there who are good writers. It's a bit like singing, in that I think many people have a basically good voice. It's weird to think about how talented people are
I have written quite a few bits of flash fiction and done nothing with them, but they are all like this. I would like to write one that is not vaguely disconcerting, one day

Sen. Kevin Cramer: "Maybe the point should be if you're the attorney for Jay Powell and you want to avoid an indictment, how about you go to Jeanine Pirro and say, 'I'll make a deal. I'll step down today if you drop the investigation today.' To me, that would be a win win for everybody."
