This timeline is still so bizarro world because:

>they do the advance interview with the video with the pod bros to get ahead of it

>>initial spinzone is he didn’t know what it was and no one told him about it

>>>pieces drop hours later suggesting he knew what it was

>>>>now will get removed
Graham Platner now says he plans to remove the skull tattoo being linked to Nazi symbols.

The thing about giving people the benefit of the doubt is that some of them will not deserve it. That doesn't make giving people the benefit of the doubt the wrong thing. But it does mean we have to be judicious about how that interacts with electing people to public office
At the risk of spiking the ball, maybe a second or two of reflection is warranted for the “Maybe Platner just didn’t KNOW it was a SS Totenkopf until now and it was an innocent mistake” crowd on here

The White House is asking people not to share pictures of the East Wing because it’s even worse today.
My “i respect women” tattoo seems to be raising questions answered by my tattoo

also just like. guys. how are we ever going to have a leg to stand on calling out Nazi shit on the right if they can turn right around and be like "well why is Hegseth's shit worse than Platner's"

I bet a candidate could do well with “yeah, I said some awful things online when I was younger, but I see why it was wrong, and I’m familiar with extremist spaces online, how young men get radicalized by them, and what we can do about it.”

Less good is “it’s wrong of you to care about what I said.”
Graham Platner to @daveweigel.bsky.social:
"How do you expect to win back men when you go back through somebody’s Reddit history and just pull it all out and say: ‘Oh, my God, this person has no right to ever be in politics?’"

DSCC Chair Gillibrand: “It’s up to the voters of Maine to decide.”

My Wife: we're watching the World Series together, right?

Me: *blank stare*

MW: What?

Me: you want me to watch a Series between the team that ousted my team this year and the team that caused my first serious sports heartbreak as a teen?

MW: oh. Yeah. That tracks.

i think this is how trump remains in power: anyone who has ever denied that he possesses any moral failing (he possesses more or less all of them) has been proven to have said something foolish over the past decade. at some point the accumulated debt of embarrassment becomes too high to pay.
I've written a lot of political commentary in my career, and I never thought before that 'if you want to get ahead in the centre-left party, you need to have, at the least, lasered off the Nazi tattoo before running' would be a divisive bit of analysis.

A fun byproduct of unitary executive theory—if the president controls everyone under him, he can demand they transfer hundreds of millions in tax dollars into his bank account
Breaking News: President Trump wants $230 million from the Justice Department for investigating him, people familiar with the matter say. Any settlement might ultimately be approved by senior department officials who defended him or those in his orbit. nyti.ms/4hmIi5X

one thing about racism is the way people will ignore the most likely explanation for something like having a Nazi tattoo for 20 years.

the most simple and obvious explanation was that he knew what it was and kept it. his excusers need to stop the embarrassing mental gymnastics.
Jewish Insider just sent out an email with an article with more Platner info. And yeah, this guy is DONE done.

Idk about you, but I think the Dems should have held up every nomination possible this whole time.

All this shit going on and they still acquiesce to fascists.

Do you think they share the cuck chair or did they splurge for a big ass couch?

“Can you imagine if Obama had bulldozed the W…” NO. We just need leaders who respond the way Republicans would have responded if Obama had bulldozed the White House to build himself a palace ballroom. Removal from office. Criminal prosecution. Confiscate Mar a Lago. Sell it to finance rebuilding.

So not to get all conspiracy theory-y mostly bc I don't think republicans are smart enough to do this but is there any chance r's are dropping plants in key races and having guys SAY they're Dems and then after they win turn into a Fetterman trolls?

Because it feels like this guy just got caught.
