Reform names Robert Jenrick as pick for chancellor 👇🏼

Fun Fact about #BentBob - In 2020 as Housing Sec he was embroiled in a "cash for favours" scandal after overturning officials to approve a £1 billion East London housing development by a Tory donor, saving them circa £45 million in council fees 🤷🏼‍♂️

Most of the country has some sort of election this May.

Are you registered to vote?

How do you intend to defeat Reform or you're not even registered?

If you are, double check.

Then encourage others to register - children at uni, friends or neighbours who have moved house.

We can all do our bit!

I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

The entire UK diplomatic budget is about £1.4 billion a year. That’s pretty much precisely 0.1% of government spending.

BBC World Service is about £0.25 billion (it should be higher), or 0.02%.

These are rounding errors on rounding errors. Double each and public expenditure wouldn’t twitch.

Mad.

Jaywalking in the United States is a made up "crime" that was literally a psyop campaign....

funded by automakers

because their cars were killing pedestrians

So they turned it back around on the victims. "Jay" was a negative slang at the time for someone who was a gullible rural person.
I'm not especially opposed to driverless cabs, but I'm fucked if I'm giving up my ancestral British right to cross the road anywhere if it's safe for me to do so. "Jaywalking" isn't a thing or a crime here, techbros, so your magic cars will have to learn to deal with that.
Politics London discussing driverless taxis casually referring to “jaywalking pedestrians”.

Jaywalking is not a thing in UK law.

Transport for London and Government had better not be asleep at the wheel on this.

It seems like we have the dumbest trolls in government, but it's way worse than that.

These men are evil.

Every single one of them knows they're lying about climate change. They know that actual science shows it's real, it's us, it's dangerous, but we can fix it—yet they truly do not give a fuck.

Made a charity in the "bonfire of the quangos".
“Julie Sharman…of the Canal & River Trust, a charitable organisation in charge of maintaining 3,200km of waterways across England and Wales…’People sometimes think canals are looked after by local authorities or by the government, and they’re not. They’re looked after by us, as a charity’”
Crumbling canals.

On a winter's day in the English midlands, engineers struggle to drag stranded narrowboats from a waterless, mud-filled canal that collapsed. The sight starkly illustrates an ongoing battle to maintain the UK's historic, yet deteriorating, waterways
