The genocide in Darfur was the first Cause I ever truly cared about. I raised UNICEF funds for Sudan in my tiny town in rural Idaho. It’s happening again. Like another Holocaust occurring in the 1960s.

Please help them. Your money will save lives.

The podcast's tagline is, "Family therapy through politics." Frankly, I think it's some sort of sick debasement ritual to stick this out. They can call the parents stupid, but who are the stupid ones, the morally nihilistic authoritarians or the ones expecting them to change? Let's get real.
On “The Necessary Conversation” podcast, Chad’s Trump supporter parents tell him the military should follow Trump’s illegal orders and kill everyone in LA if Trump commanded it — even with him and his sister in the city😳

People will say this and be shocked when their party becomes a sectarian microcult
4) All those who are not with you are against you, you have no allies except your comrades

5) Expect everyone who is not a part of your organisation to hate you by default. They do not want you to succeed.

When my uncle died, I got a call at work and I called back during break. I went back to work, then cried in the bathroom. I went back to work.

I’d like to think this is an Amazon problem but it wasn’t. I genuinely can’t handle the inhumanity of capitalism.

With his new comedy show and debut novel, is it time to let Louis C.K. force women to watch him masturbate again?
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

What will Zohran Mamdani do about this?
Federal immigration enforcement officials called off a planned raid on Canal Street today shortly before it was slated to begin.

New Yorkers who heard about the raid showed up at the garage where the feds had gathered, and as federal agents tried to leave, the NYPD cleared the way for them.

What are posts like this supposed to accomplish? Do people think that oppressed people are hopeless and in despair because someone told them it was cringe to be hopeful?
Since people find being hopeful and optimistic so cringe these days, let me remind you once again that there isn’t a single liberation movement in the world that wasn’t built on hope and optimism.

She hated it. She cried about it. But she followed orders.
Sarah Beckstrom's ex-boyfriend told NBC News she dreamed of becoming an FBI special agent.

She didn't want to deploy to D.C.

"She hated it. She cried about it."

But she started visiting monuments and museums and started enjoying it.

May she rest in peace.

The slain soldier’s former boyfriend recalled her empathy and generosity. “She doesn’t even have to know you and she’ll do anything for you,” he said.

It’s why conservative discourse practically never attempts to defend conservative ideas on the merits, but instead cry about it how it’s unfair that they don‘t win automatically.
it's interesting because right wingers won't shut up about triggering the libs, liberal tears, etc etc but on a deep level what they want isn't for us to be angry, what they want is for us to apologize and admit they were right all along
Like 30% of the country is absolutely enraged because they thought they were going to be able to be utter shitbirds without anyone being allowed to call them shitbirds, but here we are, calling them shitbirds.

This shit is why I hate veterans. It’s the most crybaby bullshit about how they’re the real victim for killing all those people. Like the guy I worked with who came crying to me about how he kept seeing the little girl he killed and how he wanted to kill himself. Hated playing therapist for monsters
What if that mortar had killed me in Fallujah? “Well it’s a shame that kid John got sent to the illegal war, if you think about it this is actually his fault”.

In 2024 I enrolled in university and since then I had to drop out because of the same reasons I can’t hold a job but it was stunning how illiterate my classmates were. I know I’m a better reader and writer than even my cohort but it was worse than 2000s high school.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

of course the inverse of these findings we already know: cars kill

not just through traffic violence, but also through trapping older people in socially isolated car deserts, barring the physical body both from participating in its own transportation and also the community at large
“The researchers describe the bicycle as a kind of “lifestyle companion” for older adults—a tool that keeps them physically active, mentally sharp, socially connected, & confidently mobile. That combination appears to delay the need for long-term care, preserve independence,& ultimately extend life”
A Decade-Long Study Shows Cycling Helps Older Adults Live Longer, Healthier Lives.
