Prob not good that "you have to vote for them, also they can't do anything good and it's your fault if they lose" is the Dem superfan line.

Villeneuve managed to wrestle the first novel into a coherent, well-paced narrative but sanded off all the weirdness that makes it compelling. A Pyrrhic victory.

Mamoru Oshii planned it. A young Satoshi Kon took the lead on its layouts. The result: a stunning moment from Patlabor 2.

We're looking inside the film's martial law sequence, including storyboards and production art:

it's hard to get mad at Kamala over anything except Gaza because otherwise the party treated her horribly and she nearly saved them from oblivion anyway

The other fun one is where people retcon the joe biden being forced out by leftist posters rather than like a bunch of dem insiders leaking to the times axios and other rags starting early spring 2024. like pelosi was leaking this shit by march and most of the ones pushing it early didnt want harris

I know it’s the most obvious thing in the world but it’s really sad that so many people have absolutely no desires or dreams in life except to accumulate money and our entire world is becoming a fucking pit because of it

it’s good when novels are huge and long and even occasionally boring, it’s fundamentally a durational form

People get mad about this, but it's true. An audiobook can convey the information in a book, but listening to one is a different thing than reading, which is its own practice and should be cultivated by every person who is able to do it.

Consuming an audiobook is not technically reading.

It's listening.

Plot is not important for its own sake but as a framework to allow for aesthetic and emotional effects.

I have several phone numbers from my childhood burned into my brain forever, even when there's no one I know on the other end anymore.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

The Dems who have been the best on Palestine have also been the most aggressive on confronting Trump, and like you said, that's not a coincidence.
