Something I want more people to bear in mind about Linda Tirado's injuries in 2020 is how few colleagues in journalism felt moved to aggressively support her in public after she was shot by police.
People need to learn from that now as journalists go into danger again, because that hurt her a lot.

Here in my community ICE has been setting up near a county center for social services. It’s cold out, but the local hypothermia shelter is seeing fewer clients then they expect, because even people who desperately need to come in from the cold are too scared to come near.
