I purposefully avoid most popular things and I think more people should try to do that too.

the more i think about this the more i think about the very real possibility of our next war having its strategy entirely plotted out by chatgpt and us losing the war because it freaks out like the taco bell ordering AI and making bizarre, unnecessary decisions that cost a ton of money
Sec. Hegseth rolled out the U.S. military’s new AI platform, GenAi.Mil, with a link to an empty website. trib.al/tbCJAkT

Predictably, the platform can’t actually be accessed from external networks, but the wonky rollout triggered eyerolls across the internet.

You used to have to do a layer or two of analysis to arrive at "Generative AI is fascist, don't use it."

Showed this to my older child. The response:

“This works for art and music too. AI can’t produce anything great because it will never have imposter syndrome.”
One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Growing up no one told us just how long 30-85 years is, versus how short 1-29 years is.

Childhood will never be the best part of life, you'll have to re-learn everything in your 20's anyway. Seeing all the thriving 50-80 year olds around me is a reminder that life has only just started for me

Chic hits #1 today in 1978 with “Le Freak”, a song originally titled “F**k Off!” — and written after the band was turned away by the bouncers at Studio 54.

“We go back to my apartment really pissed off,” said Nile Rodgers, “and Bernard starts singing, ‘Ahhh, f**k off!’ .. and that became the hook.”

I am so sick and tired of professional athletes telling kids they have to "exercise" and "practice" and "eat right" to become world-class athletes. That sort of gate-keeping has to stop! Today I'm announcing a new non-profit that provides unlimited steroids to any kid who wants to compete.

Love to see the Sedgwick County Zoo putting out a good explainer on why GenAI slop videos of animals are a problem & how to identify them! It’s succinct, easy to read, and doesn’t shame people for not knowing better. A+ useful link to share with family and friends.

The Reality of AI Animal Content – Sedgwick County Zoo
If you spend any time on social media, you’ve probably seen them – bears bouncing on trampolines, apes caught on doorbell cameras, or “rescued” wild animals acting in ways that seem too good to be…

It "rules" that AI slop can flourish and get paid out, meanwhile actual indie artists don't get paid by Spotify any more. I can't stress this enough, even Amazon, Google and Apple are better at paying out indie artists than Spotify - any service choose other than Spotify, will pay indies better:
It's really an "anyone but Spotify" situation. Looking back on 2025, we can see everyone whose paid me royalties this year & the rates thereof (Tidal wins, but Amazon, Youtube & Apple aren't bad,) and looking back on my history with Spotify by year, we see exactly when their payout rules changed:

Every facet of generative AI has made my professional life worse, without question, but THIS specific aspect has been driving me NUTS.

Clients, who have made me toil for weeks over indescribably small details, are now approving & producing in-house commercial artwork that looks like a fever dream.
I feel the clients now using GenAI to do stuff and going "good enough" when they used to nitpick at every last detail is due to them finding out all those nit picky changes take time and work they cant be bothered to put in.
