It's depressing how well Futurama nailed this shit back in 2000.
Still from Futurama that depicts a bunch of nerdy dudes, one of whom is proudly screaming "Bring on the hot chicks, 'cause I'm a hot stud." Still from Futurama that depicts Leela proudly saying "I'm a woman if that's what you mean." still from Futurama that depicts holograms of a bunch of nerdy guys shrinking away in fear.

Subtitle: "A Woman? i'm scared."

Things haven't changed enough in 25 years, maybe even regressed a bit, or so I fear. Young men ain't even going to the comic shops; never meet a cool fujoshi who makes hearts stop. All their own fault that they're alone hurting, because they've never bothered to grow as persons.

If you didn't buy the premium popcorn, half way through you pull out a 2 minute ad-break, possibly with ads for another streaming service's snack food.

Hey friends. After having open heart surgery in Dec and another procedure in July, I've been left in 10k+ debt while recovering. During this, we were also laid off from Skullgirls. To try to help dig myself out, I have begun listing things on eBay: ebay.com/usr/mshinzan

Well it's seems that pies from other guys
Are what fly out doors in that suburb now🎺

Lesbihonest is such a good portmanteau that it almost overshadows the rest of your trenchant point.

Grungler question: would it be out of pocket or on the nose to call Onimai the Kashimashi of the 2020s?

What next?

You want Charles Kane's last words to be "Schwing" or Casablanca to have Rick and Else together?

This is literally part of the plot from The Critic, a show from 1994.

1994.

The Critic, "Dr. Jay" (01x10).

Here. Watch it on Tubi for free right now.

Yeah, an ingredients list in plain language for most supplements would be a truth bomb for many.

At the very least, if it's something one injests, especially to replace food, but even if not, it's food & needs to have the same testing & nutrition facts as food. Bottle of pills? Food - even seasonings have nutrition facts after all. Protein shakes & bars? They named them after foods, LMAO.

So my coworker and I immediately brought this up with the fellow 20-30 y.o's who proteinmaxx, and how maybe they should switch to other powders or try to get their protein through actual food, and they spent a literal hour trying to defend that consuming high amounts of lead is not that bad...

my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

Jesus christ. AI coding platform Augment code had to jack up prices because 22.5% of their users were spending 20x of what they paid, and even after raising the prices, they're still running at a loss.
reddit.com/r/AugmentCod...
A handful of users abused the system so all are getting punished.

This isn't about a few high-usage users. The reality is that approximately 22.5% of our users are consuming 20x what they're currently paying us. This isn't sustainable for us to continue delivering the quality service you expect. We have built some very powerful tools and we don’t want to impose artificial limits on what’s possible, but we do need to be able to charge in proportion to the use customers are getting from our platform. Developers are always going to push their tools to their limits, and we encourage that — and we need to be able to charge for it appropriately, too.

You only care about professional developers.

Our core focus is on building the best AI coding agent for professional software engineers and their teams. If people outside of that group are finding value with Augment, they are very welcome to use the product, but we’re not prioritizing features or solutions that non-developers might need, and frankly, there are plenty of vibe coding/low code/no code solutions available on the market that will better serve those customers.

You are just squeezing money out of us at 20x margin.

20x margin sounds great, but isn’t the reality for AI tools: the vast majority are running at a loss, including us, while we work to build sustainable, long-term businesses.

Articles like this drive me insane. The amount of tokens being used is going up because they explicitly made it so that models use more tokens. This is the tech section of a globally-renown newspaper and it's an argument that's unmoored from reality or meaning.

“Over the last few months, we’ve begun to see glimpses of our AI systems improving themselves,” Meta Platforms Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said in July on the social-media giant’s second-quarter earnings call.

All of that should make AI models more efficient, which could have a beneficial effect on the economics of AI.

Second, data centers under construction around the world will soon begin operations, increasing the supply of computing power and energy and driving down the cost of training and using AI. Tech company Microsoft last month said it is in the final stages of construction on a $3.3 billion data center in Wisconsin and announced plans for a second, $4 billion facility in the area.

And third, increasing demand for tokens could finally become an economic benefit as models improve and the supply of computing infrastructure expands.

Another massive increase in demand for AI is likely in the coming months or quarters, just as those other forces take hold, according to Terry. That’s because the most promising corporate AI trials are likely to move into broader deployment.

And, even with unlimited tokens available, have been shown in papers by Apple to fail to scale repetitive, predictable tasks, even when carefully instructed on how to do so. The increase in accuracy is seemingly mathematically bounded even if allowed infinite cost.

A friend pointed out to me that a lot of that stuff is punishing women & sexual minorities primarily, so I suspect since the intrinsic lack of contextualized data & the nature of DNNs to be overweighted towards the median, they automatically produce the oppression these companies seek to do by hand.

While it'd be interesting to see them under fire from the big social police of the world including the payment providers, I worry they have all too much exposure in the event of the AI bubble popping ?& spurring a recession, so while they beat up on Valve & Itch, Visa & MC won't touch Altman & Musk.
