People everywhere should post more about their local politics, holidays, etc! I always appreciate mutuals who do (largely Canadians but I have a few others too). I absolutely get complaining about one's own media covering American stuff, but it does not feel weird for Americans to talk about the US

i came across the saying "to follow like a Tantony pig" so I get curious and look it up, but Tantony isnt a place, it's a contraction of St Anthony who is the saint of swineherds, so the proverb means to follow someone like a pig following the hog messiah. alas this information will not pay my bills

we ordered shelf-stable stuff for grocery pickup last week, A got the turkey at Costco Friday after work, then Sunday mid afternoon we got produce/dairy and Sunday night we took the kids to a holiday lights thing after dinner and hit Trader Joe’s going home, so I am feeling A++ about our tday prep

My mom told her physical therapist she wears a mask because her husband and daughter are immunocompromised. The PT said she is too but isn't worried bc she knows if she dies she is going to heaven. Then her co-worker yelled, “Shut up Debbie you wear a seatbelt and take blood pressure meds” 👀

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
