So, following the example of organisations similar to the Women's Institute in the US Jim Crow South that barred Black women from their main groups and leadership positions, but allowed a few groups for "Coloured Ladies" as a concession. 🙄

Brilliant idea. /s

The Times, Telegraph, Mail, and other newspapers have been more accurate than the BBC in their reporting of the Sandie Peggie case. This raises the question of why the BBC appears to take such an intensely ideological and transphobic stance, far beyond commercial motives.

I spoke in Parliament today to challenge the misinformation from those claiming this tribunal as a 'win' for the anti-trans agenda.

In fact it found Ms Peggie harassed a colleague for being trans, and it dismissed almost all her claims.

It also found that trans segregation is not supported in law.
We've written & published a short summary statement regarding the Sandie Peggie V NHS Fife Health Board employment tribunal case & the judgment given yesterday. Much of the media coverage has missed key information, the most important aspect being that all claims against Dr Beth Upton were dismissed

The wheels are falling off the EHRC's bathroom ban:

Two employment tribunal judgments have now made clear: trans inclusion can be perfectly lawful. The EHRC said otherwise.

What will the new chair do now?

@neiltosh.bsky.social coverage by the @dailyrecord.co.uk of the Sandy Peggie case is identical to how your paper treated gay people. We will remember. One day, sooner than you think, people will look at your work and think "how could people be so cruel back then?" You should live to see it.

We must #ChangeTheNarrative!

Dr Beth Upton was fully acquitted of all wrongdoing in yesterday’s Employment Tribunal decision. Yet she has been vilified by a toxic & poisonous media for months.
It must stop!

Congratulations, and solidarity, to you, Beth!

A lot of journalists are writing stories about DIY now and I don't trust any of them not to scaremonger about it to build support for crackdowns. I've refused requests for interviews on this. Do not talk to the media about DIY.
Trans people need to be careful about talking about DIY. Yes talk about it in the general sense, quote the facts and figures but be careful. Don't give away sources to cis folks. Don't talk to journalists about the details. They're coming for it.

This is the REAL story of the Peggie Vs NHS Fife judgment. The mainstream news in the UK has completely misrepresented. Each outlet is asserting itself as an enemy of LGBT+ people and our progress.

I wanted dinner recommendations so I scraped 13,000+ London restaurants and accidentally discovered Google Maps is running a shadow economy. Anyway here's a dashboard and a political economy thesis: open.substack.com/pub/laurenle...
How Google Maps quietly allocates survival across London’s restaurants - and how I built a dashboard to see through it
I wanted a dinner recommendation and got a research agenda instead. Using 13000+ restaurants, I rebuild its ratings with machine learning and map how algorithmic visibility actually distributes power.

Politicians must act to provide clarity on how to remain trans-inclusive, rather than leaving organisations at the mercy of anti-trans lawfare.

Human rights issues will come back to bite both organisations and the government if they are not urgently addressed.

The Tribunal’s findings on Sex Matters and Forstater are crystal clear:

• Not skilled evidence
• Not expert
• Not impartial
• Not reliable
• Polemic rather than evidence
• Material that could not support findings of fact

So why are UK news media & politicians listening to them!!??

The tribunal seemed very unimpressed by the fact that Peggie waited around to challenge Upton, and considered this an impermissible manifestation of her beliefs.
An important point to come out of the Sandie Peggie case is that 'gender critical' employees can't take matters into their own hands and confront trans employees. If they do that it is likely to be harassment/ bullying/ a hate incident.

I have to say, given how much transphobes insist the Supreme Court judgement “clarified” the Equality Act, not changed it, it is quite interesting hearing the former ECHR chair (Baroness Falkner) claiming “the law of the land was determined” in that case. The Supreme Court should not make up laws.

The anti-trans panic in the UK is 100% a diversion from the reducing living standards since 2009 but mainly Brexit. We are the scapegoat to the Brexit disaster and the people pushing anti-trans hatred are the SAME people who pushed Brexit!
Unless you're reading this from your private jet, the same system is oppressing us all.
