No democrat gets my vote if they don’t commit to trials for everyone involved in this brutality.

This is open and shut evidence to put any number of leadership personnel involved in supermax forever and my #1 priority in any federal- tier candidate is "do they seem genuinely mad enough about this to do that"

This is insane not just the explicit "go break the 4A" substance but how they knew how bad it was, acting in guilty paranoia to cover it up and suppress the written evidence.

This isn't how running a government agency works. This is what a criminal conspiracy looks like, because that's what it is.
🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

I do not understand why every Democrat isn’t hammering away at the clear mental decline of the president. He couldn’t even get right the name of the country he’s trying to seize today on the biggest stage in the world. Everyone else is talking about it. Why isn’t the US?
AOC: The president has been acting in increasingly erratic ways. It is really damning when we think about the degree to which media outlets reported on Joe Biden, yet we are seeing behavior from Trump that is alarming and everyone is pretending this is normal.

Senator Gallego weighs in as well. Note that at the start of 2025 he was considered a *moderate* on immigration and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. Him and many other Dems have been increasingly horrified at what ICE is doing and shifted away from a "more enforcement" focus.

Absolutely nowhere to be found on the ground in Minneapolis during an invasion by the federal government and she wants to be governor lmao

I am begging people to demand more from Democrats for the love of god.
Yes it’s cold in Minnesota—but we embrace it. John and I were in Hastings with Mayor Fasbender for Hockey Day Minnesota to watch my alma mater, Wayzata High School, take on Rogers. Photo taken with parents right after their son scored a goal!

Many people said you needed to act immediately in 2021 before Democratic inertia and Republican cultism whipped into full force. Instead Garland delayed and dawdled, seemingly with no intent at all of securing a real indictment, before washing his hands of the matter handing it to a real prosecutor
We did actually indict him though. That is a thing that happened. Twice.
Genuinely shocking to me that this same crew of people have spent a decade trying to convince us that Dems are relentlessly fighting Trump and in fact couldn’t have fought harder, somehow including a period where Dems had total control of the government and their AG wouldn’t even prosecute him

Is it @startribune.com policy to refer to anyone confronting ICE as a protester? This obscures the nature of what people are doing. We're not protesting ICE. We're constitutional observers documenting human rights abuses by agents of the state.

it doesn't matter if you don't want to have this fight, it doesn't even matter if it's not politically optimal to have this fight

the fight is here and sitting it out is not an option

if you can't see that get out of the way

Looks like Senator Blumenthal's office worked with the whistleblowers, and has already put out a letter to the Trump admin demanding answers.

Congress MUST act. This is a five alarm fire for our basic rights under the law. bsky.app/profile/blum...
I’m demanding Sec. Noem provide an explanation for this abhorrent policy & that my Republican colleagues hold hearings & join me in demanding the Trump Admin answer for this lawlessness. 6

the one excuse/scenario here I think we need to permanently dispense with is the 'Trump's people rise up and overthrow the government' one, because we have now seen in both South Korea and Brasil that you can break these populist right wing cults if you nove decisively enough.
I think the problem is that there was never an appeals-proof case, and you could not leave the fate of the republic up to SCOTUS, so time was more important than people gave it credit for.
I think my biggest break from this site's zeitgeist is I earnestly believe that the United States Government spent 2021-2024 trying to build a case strong enough to survive appeals and see Donald Trump die in prison, or in the alternative force SCOTUS to break the Constitution declare Trump a king.

This is all blatantly unconstitutional and illegal, and everyone should act like it is. There is no room for cowardice or compromise, and there should be consequences.

ICE secretly told its officers that any time someone has been ordered removed, ICE can break down their door.

It has been accepted for generations that the only thing which can authorize agents to break into your home is a warrant signed by a judge. No wonder ICE hid this memo!

garland did not begin to build a case against trump until November 2022. this is at best cope and at worst a lie.
There’s just absolutely no way this Supreme Court would have allowed Trump to go to prison. Garland probably knew that and wanted an airtight case to try and beat them anyway

Garland going after individual rioters and not the false electors or GOP legal hacks was a massive mistake born of him being, temperamentally, a Republican, and thus opposed to any elite accountability.
I appreciate Keith’s thought & think it’s reasonable/possible; but Leonnig’s recent book (e.g.) details how, while they diligently pursued the various rioting dorks of 1/6, they dropped the ball on the suits—the FedSoc skunk-works types fabricating false electors.

At no point have I heard anyone make the argument that the poor rank-and-file Nazis were tricked. The lesson was always how shocking it is that these people embraced evil, and that they are all culpable for their moral failure.

Our drooling illiterate hogfolk, tho? They are innocent.

The most important technological revolution of our lifetime has nothing to do with AI:

Important to realize also that, once constructed, solar infrastructure just keeps working*, for decades, with very little additional cost. There's no need for a constant stream of inputs like fossil fuels.
Check this one fact out:

"In 2024, the total installed electricity capacity of the planet—every coal, gas, hydro, and nuclear plant and all of the renewables—was about 10 terawatts. The Chinese solar supply chain can now pump out 1 terawatt of panels every year."

Lie to yourself if you want. It’s true. You’re complicit now. Maybe you’re happy about that.
