I see Darren over at Exxon is talking about the oil industry again. Darren can be pretty silly. Today he says the world is facing an oil shortage. Remember when he said that oil demand was very strong and then months later laid off a couple thousand workers? Don't believe Darren.
three headlines from google. One with Exxon CEO Darren saying oil demand is very strong and one two months later saying Darren was laying off 2000 employees. Also one about his big raise in 2024.

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

I believe Sean is good at what the Pope is warning against. The ancient art of lying.

"Pope Leo XIV encouraged international news agencies on Thursday to stand firm as a bulwark against the 'ancient art of lying'"

Like his boss, he should be worried about getting into heaven.

This is also happening in the US LNG industry.

"a major U.S. gas producer who sells supply gas to the LNG exporters has agreed to buy U.S. LNG. When one of the biggest players in an industry is buying its own product to prop up the market, it’s a good sign of a bubble"

Hierarchical thinkers simply can’t imagine horizontal organization. Their own control issues compel them to project hierarchy where there is none.

Recently, after announcing he was going to get rid of 25% of this workforce, the CEO of a major US oil company said he apologized but he "hadn't been paying attention."

Imagine being an energy CEO who wasn't paying attention during an unprecedented global energy transition?

Arrogant and dumb

No one fails upward like OPEC forecasters. Just be comically wrong forever and still get treated like what you have to say is of value to anyone.

But, then again, they do have the bone saws, the golfers and the comedians so perhaps that is what keeps it going.
OPEC Sticks to Oil Demand Forecast But Flags Fiscal Concerns, Lingering Trade Uncertainty
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries pointed to high debt levels in key economies and tariff uncertainty as areas of concern.

"According to Secretary Wright, there was agreement on both sides that the regulations as they are now written mean no more U.S. LNG would flow into Europe."

The point of regulations to limit methane emissions is to not allow dirty LNG into Europe. So, these regulations would be working.

Power generation should be publicly owned.

The interesting dynamic here is the monopoly system isn't as strong as it was before. Decentralization is also a big part of the future of energy.

Utilities in Pakistan are learning this right now.

End users don't know how their electricity is produced. No clue. But they know what it costs. So if you have a way to get them that electricity for 50% less, that is likely to win out.

“The water situation in South Texas is about as dire as I’ve ever seen it,” said Mike Howard, chief executive of Howard Energy Partners, a private energy company that owns several facilities in Corpus Christi. “It has all the energy in the world, and it doesn’t have water.”
