They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

Can't be overstated what a disaster this is going to be.

They'll be blamed for everything and achieved nothing.

Shaheen: So let me be clear. No one in the senate chamber wants to extend the ACA tax credits more than I do.

Honestly shouldn't surprise anyone coming from a guy who's done speaking engagements for the Federalist Society. They're all about running cover for the worst bits of conservative legal theory under the guise of 'civil rights'.

How the Federalist Society is helping conservatives win the judicial war.
It isn’t just about Supreme Court picks. The group’s impact on the law goes much deeper.

"Civil rights attorney" sounds a lot more noble than it is. They argue over civil rights laws, and not always in favor of them. They are not our friends. Especially if they are members of the Federalist Society.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

Blame *all* Democratic incumbents for this surrender. Not just the ones voting for it. The others could have voted to remove Schumer long ago and install a leader capable of formulating a strategy and holding his people together. They were content to stay with a proven loser.
I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

This is how Dems reward their voters LESS THAN A WEEK after a totally dominant electoral sweep. I know I shouldn't be shocked anymore, but this is genuinely unbelievable. Pathetic, selfish, stupid little piggies.

it’s so baked into American civil engagement that we don’t really question how insane it is that we have to flood phones and emails just to get Democrats to act along their own party lines, much less for more radical action or policy
i’m just so fucking tired of living through crisis after crisis and feeling like we have to beg for and negotiate with our own representatives to address the crises seriously. they shouldn’t have to be disciplined by the base into mustering an appropriate response to a fucking coup!

Republicans are literally getting booed in public by their own constituents and Democrats caved. Democrats will never hold power in the federal government ever again. A permanent minority party that will make sure that no party that actually opposes fascism can be viable. Collaborators for fascism.

Shaheen and Hassan just voted yes to passing the spending bill with no ACA
At a time when costs on basic needs—from housing to child care—are all going up, extending the ACA enhanced premium tax credits is one of the most immediate and effective ways to provide relief to families’ budgets.

The American people are counting on us to get this done.
