Proud Granite Stater serving New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate. Former Governor. Mother & Grandmother. Pats & Red Sox Fan. Outdoor enthusiast.
Giving back to the community is a fundamental part of the holiday spirit. I was grateful to serve meals at Harbor Care's annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner and see firsthand the important work being done on behalf of those impacted by homelessness or housing insecurity.

Ukraine right now has the biggest army in Europe. They are the most technologically advanced. We want that army on the Allies' side, fighting with Europe and the United States in any future conflict.

If President Trump and Congressional Republicans don't join Democrats to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits before the end of the year, tens of millions of Americans won't be able to afford health insurance - and that has ramifications for the entire health care system.
November 25, 2025 at 4:02 PM
If President Trump and Congressional Republicans don't work with us to extend the ACA premium subsidies, the American people will make them pay at the polls next year.

November is Native American Heritage Month.

I encourage Granite Staters to join me in reflecting on the strength, culture and enduring contributions of Indigenous communities in New Hampshire and across the nation.

This is a Putin plan for Ukraine.

What we need to do is put pressure on Putin to negotiate and we need to continue to support the courageous people of Ukraine.

57,000 Granite Staters rely on LIHEAP funding to afford their home heating bills and stay warm through winter.

I helped secure full funding through negotiations to reopen government and I'm calling on the Trump Administration to move quickly to ensure these funds go out on time.
Shaheen, Hassan call for federal government to release heating assistance funds
New Hampshire's U.S. senators say the federal government needs to move faster to release home heating assistance money.

Trump's inflationary tariffs are making life more expensive for working families and making it harder for Granite State businesses to get by.

It's well past time for President Trump to abandon his failed trade war.

Is any local business benefiting from tariffs?
President Donald Trump continues to insist his administration’s tariff strategy will ultimately help American businesses, workers and consumers.

The President's comments are un-American and disgraceful.

It is deeply disturbing for the President to use rhetoric like that to target Members of Congress — especially those who have served our country in uniform.
Trump claims remarks from Goodlander, others in video could be 'seditious,' 'punishable by death'
In a post on social media Thursday morning, President Donald Trump called Democratic members of Congress and the Senate who appeared in a controversial video "traitors" and accused them of "seditious ...

On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor the memory of those lost through acts of anti-transgender violence.

An overwhelming 73% of voters are concerned about health care premiums skyrocketing if the ACA enhanced premium tax credits expire, including 53% of Republicans and 66% of Independents. It’s in everybody’s interest to extend these vital tax credits before it’s too late.
November 19, 2025 at 7:49 PM
Republicans need to join us to address the soon-expiring ACA enhanced premium tax credits so that tens of millions of people aren't priced out of the health insurance they rely on. It's critical that we work together in the Senate and the House to find a bipartisan solution.
November 19, 2025 at 4:41 PM
The House has taken the long overdue step of passing a bill demanding the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, and now the Senate must do the same. The American people are demanding transparency – it’s high time this Administration answer them.

We knew from Day 1 that President Trump's tariffs on food items like coffee and fruit were a terrible idea. It shouldn’t have taken them 7 months to realize that all these did was raise grocery prices. Irreparable damage has been done to working families struggling with the cost of living.
November 18, 2025 at 2:53 PM
24 million Americans are facing skyrocketing premiums if Republicans don't join us to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits.

I met with health care providers in New Hampshire to discuss how these tax credits allow Granite Staters to afford the health care they need.

Quality education lays the foundation for our kids to succeed and reach their full potential. During this American Education Week, please join me in thanking public school teachers and staff who work every single day to provide Granite State children with the very best education.

President Trump, Speaker Johnson and Republicans in Congress have refused to address the cost of health care — but Democrats are united in the fight ahead to ensure premiums don’t skyrocket for the American people.

It’s time to work together to extend the premium tax credits.

Face the Nation: Would you support it to see the release of these [Epstein files] documents?

Sen. Shaheen: Absolutely...The American people need to see what's in them. If President Trump says there's nothing there...then why doesn't he support release of the documents?

Families who rely on food assistance were feeling real pain during the government shutdown. I stopped by Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties to thank folks for their work to ensure mothers and children in our state were able to access WIC despite the uncertainty.
November 14, 2025 at 10:32 PM
Democrats need to stay focused and get Republicans to the table. President Trump and Republicans should remember that 76% of the Americans who benefit from these tax credits live in states that he won last year.
November 14, 2025 at 7:12 PM
As Democrats, we don't use human beings as political pawns. I'm proud that our deal ensures 42 million Americans can get food assistance and 2 million federal workers can get paid.

We need to stay united and remember who the problem is: Donald Trump and the Republican majorities.
November 14, 2025 at 6:29 PM
Now that the House is back, Speaker Johnson is learning the hard way that he can't hide from his problems forever.

Americans are demanding transparency on Jeffrey Epstein and action to extend the ACA tax credits. It's time to do your job.
November 12, 2025 at 9:37 PM
POTUS, Speaker Johnson and Congressional Republicans remain the barrier to addressing health care costs.

For the first time, we've secured a guaranteed vote on this crisis and if they continue to ignore the needs of the American people, they'll be held accountable next November.
November 10, 2025 at 6:07 PM
My Republican colleagues—including President Trump—have repeatedly told voters they'd address health care costs once the government was open.

We've secured a vote and now it's time to hold them accountable.
