primaries are good and people shouldnt clear the field whether thats the establishment or progressives. let them fight.

The whining about Janet Mills jumping into the Maine Senate race is pretty hard to take. It's fine and healthy for our candidates to run in contested primaries. It's dangerous to simply nominate people by acclamation based on internet vibes. Mills isn't even bad, she's just extremely old.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

This fundamentally ignores how Trump gained power. It ignores how the GOP won in 2010 (the Tea Party rout of moderates). It ignores how Gingrich replaced a GOP leader who supported “bipartisanship.” This narrative is willful ignorance at this point.

You know why the Republicans continue to win? They’re loyal to their party. None of this kind of circular firing squad purity testing. It will continue to sink us. Save those conversations for after we wrestle control from the fascists. I’m just saying. It’s go time and we need a solid line! ✌️☮️🕊️

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society
thomaszimmer.bsky.social
What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

Goddammit more AI bubble scare stories from Ed Zitron, this time apparently using sock puppet account “the Bank of England”
histoftech.bsky.social
“Concerns over an AI bubble bursting have grown lately, with analysts recently finding that it’s 17 times the size of the dotcom-era bubble and four times bigger than the 2008 financial crisis.”

Hang onto your butts. This “correction” is gonna hurt.

Bank of England Warns of Impending AI Disaster
The Bank of England has sounded the alarm, warning of an intensifying risk of a "sudden correction" due to an AI spending frenzy.

Also it is important to highlight how men who sign up for ICE are impotent small dicks who want to feel tough but only pick on teen girls, priests and kids in frog costumes, because they are afraid of picking on someone their own size.

the gop is going to try their damndest to make it illegal to be a democrat. and this is why as effective as the health care attack is, it cannot be the only thing democrats talk about.

The House Majority Whip is also insisting that a peaceful "No Kings" demonstration is in fact a "hate America rally" held for the "terrorist wing" of the Democratic Party.

Really feels like they're trying to manifest a violent reaction to it.

News: Bari Weiss just sent a memo to staffers at CBS News asking them to produce a memo explaining "how you spend your working hours—and ideally, what you've made (or are making) that you're most proud of."

One CBS News staffer puts it like this to me: "We just got Elon Musked."

The Senate has just passed the military NDAA containing 2 anti-trans provisions: a surgery ban using federal funds (dependents too), and a sports ban on military academy spaces.

This will be the STARTING point for negotiations with the House, which has even worse provisions.

Only 20 Dems opposed.
rossalincoln.bsky.social
It didn't help that half of elected Dems were complicit in Bush era atrocities and after 2008 went all in on Look Forward Not Backward, but it was legit insane. I get it, but it's honestly astonishing how easily it was forgotten.
rossalincoln.bsky.social
Yeah no the reason Jon Stewart and Colbert and even fuckin Bill Maher became liberal heroes is because they were like the only people on TV who didn't lose their jobs for publicly acknowledging that W was shit. It was a horrible era that only really began to crack after Bush let New Orleans drown.

It really can't be said enough: the goal of the "anti-woke" movement was always to destroy social norms against bigotry. And it worked. And there's a whole lot of purportedly "left" thinkers & commentators who helped it -- indeed, it couldn't have been done without them.

They should feel bad.

A lot of the early Trump cult shit was basically old Dubya threads with the names switched out.
rossalincoln.bsky.social
Yeah, until like 2005, I still got added to family email chains that read like religious tracts, tons of "successful businessman and perhaps smartest ever president who gave up SO MUCH to lead us" shit.

And of course "Jesus Camp" immortalized a spectacular example of the cult

Suspect a lot of the Dems who tweeted "Puerto Rico should be a state: Pass it on" in 2019-20 will conveniently forget Puerto Ricans are citizens soon enough
