I’m Stephen Robinson. Years ago, my son once described me to his pre-school teacher as a “play typer guy,” which is the name of my Substack newsletter, where I write about art and politics, and my podcast, where I interview fun people.

If they think “Santa Buddy give me a yacht” sounds LESS gay, I have some very bad news for them.

I think if you're a man who's going to cover "Santa Baby," you need to just commit to the theme. Asking "Santa Buddy" for a yacht and a deed to a platinum mine is just delusional. You're lucky if your "buddy" will help you move.

Do reporters ever follow up with questions like:

-Why do doctors keep telling you to get cognitive tests?

-Is identifying a picture of a giraffe challenging for you?

-Can you tell us a difficult question from one of these cognitive tests, or are you unable to remember?
Reporter: Governor Walz called for the release of your MRI results

Trump: They were perfect like my phone call where I got impeached.

Reporter: Can you tell us what they were looking at?

Trump: I have no idea. It was just an MRI. It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and aced it.

We didn’t realize how bad Trump’s Biden-derangement syndrome really is. The first analysis found that he mentioned “Biden” an average of 6.32 times per day. That number has since climbed it’s now just over seven times a day.

Ok they're just glasses. Elphaba wearing any glasses that were too outlandish or over the top wouldn't fit her character.

how do you come back from this, we don't even have broad agreement that people are entitled to choose their representatives and elected officials. there's no baseline of shared values

it's hard to get your mind around how irredeemably broken this country has become. no one in charge at this time seems to understand even the basics of our system of government as written or our stated set of values as a secular society

To be clear Lizza’s story is that Nuzzi sat on important matters of national significance for personal benefit and he’s sat on these details until he could personally benefit.

All of DC media needs to be thrown into the sea. Anyone who defends these people is a goddamn clown.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead makes perfect sense without ever having seen Hamlet, which it's riffing off. I don't think Wicked: For Good's latter half achieves this.
I mean, if I’m watching a movie that is openly a riff on Cinderella from a different character’s perspective, I don’t actually need the movie to show me the entire story of Cinderella for me to understand that there’s a different version of Cinderella happening in the background and roll with it.

That's my point. The final act is choppy and confusing, as a result. It makes references to a story in a film that isn't actually connected.
November 26, 2025 at 7:23 PM
Something I've noticed whenever I mention my issues with Wicked: For Good's final act: The people who dismissively say "Just watch The Wizard of Oz" are the often the same ones who have criticized Marvel movies for requiring "homework" (watching other movies/TV shows) to understand the story.
