Agree with this thread. Worth reading in full.

25 years ago John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and AC Barrett all worked on GWBush's 2000 Florida recount team. What they're doing now is, if anything, more nakedly partisan.

Fire-breathing dissent by Kagan, with Sotomayor and Jackson.
They're not even trying to appear nonpartisan anymore.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

A million streams = $3000. Bananas.
Spotify has laid off thousands in recent years, while reportedly paying artists $0.003 per stream.

Spotify profits rose 28% in Q3. Its CEO is worth $9.8 billion. It's making money off ICE recruitment ads.

Don't you think it's time put a wrap on corporate greed and exploitation?

Yes, if you're always hysterical, if you have one glib answer for everything ("He has dementia," "He's a Russian asset," etc), you'll sound silly and people will stop listening. But looking at 2015-25, the "This is REALLY BAD" journos were right 90% of the time. The "calm down" crew? Mostly wrong.

Where do I get better regional news on stuff like this? My news intake is heavily biased to events in Anglophone countries, not regional neighbours.
The underlying cause of the dreadful disaster in #Indonesia may have been landslides triggered by intense rainfall, which transitioned into channelised debris flows and mudflows. This Planet Labs imagery shows an area south of Padang Pajang in Sumatra. There are many, many landslides.

IMO, it raises the question of how useful are executives?
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

Kids are so weird. I was in the pool during my 2yo lesson last week and another little kid just stepped off the ledge into the deeper water and obviously I scooped them up because the teacher was maybe 2m meters away, but kid didn’t even seem to notice?

You may know about Disney's secret color, No See Um Green. Disney spent decades discovering a specific shade of green that your eyes kind of just slide right past. They paint things this color that they want guests to ignore.

A reminder for those who are not aware: "remigration" is the process of deporting all non-white people from a country. It includes citizens and is, by definition, ethnic cleansing.

And to be clear: this is not fake. I just screenshot it myself.

A fitting moment to bring back this old transit meme. However they’re powered—gas, hydrogen, electricity, or driverless—leaning on cars instead of investing in quality public transit is still a poor long-term strategy.

Genuinely don’t think this would work as an attack ad: too many people enjoy seeing women put down.
