Yes, if you're always hysterical, if you have one glib answer for everything ("He has dementia," "He's a Russian asset," etc), you'll sound silly and people will stop listening. But looking at 2015-25, the "This is REALLY BAD" journos were right 90% of the time. The "calm down" crew? Mostly wrong.

Australia, 80s: Dip dip dog sh*t, who stepped in it, what colour was it (stop on child who nominates colour, colour spelt out, 1 letter per kid,). Trust Australians to throw a swear word in.

My kids use one from day care which I think is a Nepali rhyme which sounds like “mini mini mango” to me.

Good luck! A colleague’s parent spent 4 days on the ground and was found by meals on wheels in bad shape. Definitely worth having.

My sisters suspected Turkish van was found orphaned in a park. Used to like to hang out on top of the fridge.

That kid (9ish?) knew I’d saved his bacon. Big shaky breathe, cough, clung to me, said thanks.
I was a bit nervous to intervene given his dad was so close and he’d been swimming well earlier, but so glad I did.
Cliche alert: both times totally silent, and so flipping quick. Eyes on always.

I saved a kid last summer. His dad was on the side of a small backyard pool, calling out to check on him, kid didn’t yell back like he’d been doing. I looked over, saw he was climbing an invisible ladder and bobbing near the surface. Grabbed him, put him on the side.
