I have tons of new people following me, so I should do one of these:

Hi! I'm Emily. I'm an author (www.penguinrandomhouse.com/authors/2274...), podcaster (podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...) & writer. I try to make people laugh. I write about sleuths in a newsletter: msemilyedwards.com/blog/
nothing proves that there are different kinds of intelligence quite like some people’s absolute insistence that cooking requires directions to the absolute minutiae or no one could ever possibly do it correctly

no, some of us are actually just… observant and can figure things out

how dare you speak such things into the universe
We as a country must dedicate our entire national energy to making sure that Ryan Murphy does not make a mini series about Olivia Nuzzi and Ryan Lizza.

The faintest glimmer of hope that I have is that my book series sold like absolute dirt but I still earned out on that advance to the point that two years after the 3rd book's release, I still get a few thousand a year in royalties.

Take that, statistics.

Male loneliness will continue until the whole damn system improves. I used to care about changing men's hearts and minds. Now what I want for women is rights and money.

And on Giving Tuesday, it would mean the world to me if you - my followers and friends here on Bluesky - could help us in any way you can at connorfund.org

Dear GarageBand:

I literally never want to re-download the essential sounds library. How have I been using this program for 6+ years and still do not have the option to tell you to never try to download the sounds library ever again?

For every misstep Murphy makes he makes a really strong, succinct message about a real thing that everyone needs to know about.
Please watch this.

The Senate killed a bill to ban state regulation of AI by a vote of 99-1 this spring. Now the industry - eager to stay unregulated - and Trump are scheming to shove the provision in the national defense bill.

You need to know this, so you can help stop it.

I often see people post that if something isn't available to them when/how/priced how they want, that piracy hurts corporations more than individuals and all it shows is that you sincerely, sincerely believe that your instant gratification is more important than someone else paying their bills
Always worth taking a moment to remind you if you’re pirating authors’ book you’re a shitty person. You can rail that our profession isn’t a profession all you want. You can paint yourself as an online revolutionary liberating ideas. It’s all bullshit.

You’re just a shitty person who hates writers.

This is correct. Empire getting their asses handed to them because of their chauvinism about technological advancement by natives who are experts in their local environment, this is George Lucas' capstone metaphor about the self-sabotage of imperial overreach
Ewoks are the whole point of Star Wars.

Zoolander is ranking higher than Mrs Doubtfire AND The Birdcage

what are we even doing here, kids.
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!

i’m as white as a hotel towel but thankfully my grandpa’s immigrant parents owned a bakery and restaurant. my mother can’t cook for shit but grandpa cooked til i was a teenager. we had a fuck ton of “unamerican” food at holidays but it was alllllll good.
The Only Children of White Collar Professional Parents In The 1990s website is uniquely badly-positioned to have good memories or holiday food

Larry Hagman played a huge role in the incredible movie FAILSAFE and doesn’t get enough credit for it
As J.R. Ewing, Texan Larry Hagman was the only actor to appear in all 357 episodes of "Dallas." I only mention it because Larry died 13 years ago today, on Nov. 23, 2012. He was 81 years old.

a collapsible laundry basket is my latest and kids, i love it so much
I have bought a ton of little low tech things over the course of the last couple years and I have made a few purchases that were very small but life changing for a middle aged lady:

-hand fans
-cotton hankies
-cheapass reading glasses
-decent pens (you pen nerds were totally right about pens)

I read Wicked before the musical even made it to Broadway, and I'm always... Fascinated? at the idea that the musical is just so much better than the book. The changes are SOOOO different that they are two wildly different stories based and I wish more people would just be ok with that.
I fell down a hole of "people who love wicked and picked up the book thinking it was going to be a fluffy fantasy romance story"
😂😂😂😂

I adored that book for a long time and was shocked when they made it into a family friendly musical.

It's dark and satirical and wonderful.
