Support the best local journalists I know AND your money goes toward a worker-led nonprofit instead of Bezos!
Three days remain to hit the goal in our campaign to hire @maustermuhle.bsky.social full-time.

We know there's a ways to go, but with less than half left to raise...we could reach it easy peasy if each person who donated asked one friend to give too. givebutter.com/SsQ8CG

I'm so scared of cities. All those buildings so close to each other. You can go to the movie theater and a restaurant and the park while walking, in defiance of God. There are people you haven't met before. Sometimes there's a dog in a jacket

Whenever someone says they’re afraid of downtown in American cities, I’m always like, brother, that’s where the Fogos de Chão are.

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

Mandalay restaurant in Silver Spring, Md has great Burmese food, but purple line construction on Bonifant has been discouraging customers from going there. See their Facebook post below. They are asking for support despite that construction which makes it harder to get there .

Portobello Beach: two goths in love, slinging an arm around each other and searching the clear blue sky for the best selfie angle. He in a grey kilt and she in a black skirt, but everything else the same.

I was thinking about this Joe and Tracy anecdote from the supply chain crisis on gummy bears. Things are probably going to get really weird in a few weeks in unexpected ways:

One of the really special things about Sesame Street was always these little art films that were less about teaching a specific thing than they were about instilling a sort of meditative sense of wonder at how the world works.
Really enjoying this classic Sesame Street segment, two minutes of freestyle jazz riffing on saxophone factory footage

On the grammar of “trump take egg”
the techincal term for this is "disfluency" - a hitch in the normal way your brain expects some writing to go that makes it more memorable by forcing you to stop and pay attention it.
The dubious grammar exhibited here makes the message more impactful in the same way that misspellings and other incongruities make the message of the fascists more impactful. "Stop the steal" is another example of this phenomenon.

Loved this little Québécois film I watched on a flight from Montréal. Great bit where the vampire’s parents take her in for psychiatric help because she doesn’t want to kill.
