This is funny cuz they forgot the rest of the headline "Gen Z Shoppers Aren't Spending Like Retailers Need Them Too.....recklessly, above their means and using credit to increase the terms of their indentured servitude to their employers"
If you want people to spend more, pay them more.

Started playing Alan Wake 2, realized I just want more Control. I wish I could replay narrative heavy games and still enjoy them as much as the first.

I obtained video of two FBI agents visiting an anti-ICE protester not charged with any crime.

While the media continue to mock Trump's war on "Antifa" as legally impossible, the FBI is quietly implementing it with investigations like these:

Only tech dudes would reframe the relentless management exploitation of their time and talent as a feature, not a bug. They're self-exploiting, and then they'll be tossed aside when their value is depleted.

underneath all the doom and hideous stuff happening at the top of our country is a more inspiring story: regular Americans are not buying all this crap. and they're still willing to call the government out on it.

Oh an inevitable slowdown coming for AI capital expenditures? And that happening would mess up the markets when it happened? Crazy idea. Oh it'll be really horrible? Because the AI trade will be obviously bullshit as there's no revenue? Damn. That's crazy

My beef isn't with the concept of machine learning but with the fact it's been entrusted to a cabal of profit-obsessed goblins who have collectively failed every ethics class they ever took and are now piloting our collective future with the moral restraint of a raccoon in a unlocked dumpster.

To a millennial, functioning democracy in the US is a semi-mythical, nostalgic childhood memory. To a Zoomer, it has never existed at all.
I kind of get this because the older you are the more memory you have of a time when American liberal democracy sort of kind of worked okay, so the desecration of our institutions is more viscerally felt than for someone my age whose earliest political memory is either the financial crisis or Trump
I do volunteer stuff for my red state rural county's Democratic Party. Including running the local social media. There's bloodrage out there. What's interesting to me is the older the person, the more murderous the speech. The young people are practically serene compared to their elders.

This is a cruel and violent country. you won't grab hold of power unless you wrench that cruelty and desire for kinetic action in the direction of someone who actually deserves it

Ideally, we'd be better people. There's a long road to that destination and it runs through ugly-ass terrain.

the people angry at this seem captured by the delusion that "immortality" would somehow trickle down to the masses. This ignores two key things:

1. Most tech oligarchs see "immortality" as uploading themselves to the cloud

2. They want to make themselves gods and don't desire your company
like 70% of the worst evil being perpetrated in the world right now is caused by rich men trying to avoid death. this is their underlying hope for AI, and genetic engineering.

if true immortality ever existed we would have a moral responsibility to murder the inventors and bomb their labs.
Acausal Robot God have mercy on my soul, I have backed up every piece of the claim:

“The goal of LessWrong rationality is so Eliezer Yudkowsky can live forever as an emulated human mind running as a process on the future superintelligent AI god computer.”

*ahem*
