My friend Bahaa's family home in north Gaza was destroyed by the IOF. I can't imagine how it would feel to see your own neighborhood like this.

If you want to help him and his family, they have both Chuffed (chuffed.org/project/baha...) and a verified Gofundme (www.gofundme.com/f/Anwar-Family).
Why should I be expected to trust a history of "invisible illness" that makes invisible the institutional collusion that helps make my illness invisible?
I’m sick of all the emotional grenades lobbed at people w/ ME—the articles/studies/books/guides w/ harmful information or both sidesing. I’m sick of feeling pressured to read things not bc I expect to learn anything helpful, but so I’ll be able to defend myself when it’s inevitably used against me.

For those lucky enough to live outside the nightmare world of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, the man discussed here (Simon Wessely) leads a powerful psych lobby w/ a long history of gaslighting sick people—from Gulf War vets to 9/11 first responders to poisoned Iranian school girls to ME & Long Covid
LOL (laughing to keep from crying). So the cartoon villain who has terrorized sick people for decades threatened to sue if this book didn’t include more of “his side,” but instead of investigating a clear pattern of intimidation to maintain a chokehold on scientific progress, we get…more chokehold
I don't think the PACE trial was robust and don't argue that. I'm so sorry you are reading the book this way. I have several people with ME read the book. Let's connect off line; Wessely read a version of the writing & threatened to sue me if it didn't include the other side. Happy to talk offline.

Stop listening to or watching this fucker. He’s not who people want him to be and he’s never been that person.
Stewart has had some bad public health takes.

In 2005, he interviewed Robert Kennedy Jr. and thanked him for raising awareness about vaccines and autism.

Years ago, he endorsed the COVID lab leak theory. More recently, he joked about people still masking in public for their health.

yeah i'll vote for gavin newsom under extreme circumstances. like say we're on a life raft and need to decide who to eat first. or our plane crashes in the andes and we're figuring out who to barbecue for dinner. or if we're wagon-bound and stranded in a frozen pass over the sierra nevada mountains,

A competent opposition political party would cut together the footage of what ICE had been doing in the twin cities with Mike Johnson saying "ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do" and have it in ads all across the country
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”

if you had a livejournal, you likely have lived in a world without ICE
semi-regular reminder that ICE was only created in 2003

when you are asked to imagine a world without ICE, you're basically being asked to remember where you were when Lilo & Stitch came out

the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

Throughout the protocol, there are nudge-nudge, wink-wink phrases that... make an impression. People with PEM know exercise doesn't cure Long COVID or ME, and talk to each other about it. The researchers want to ensure that patients don't understand they're in an exercise trial for that very reason.

At today's talk, I touched on deception in activity management. Some-- often new to the field / to PEM-- will deceptively call their graded exercise program pacing.

Then, I stumbled across this from @sunsopeningband.bsky.social and it's actually worse. 🧪 🧵
