a non-zero number of pasty-faced ICE goons who are fully ancestry dot com-pilled about being like .0002% Irish will have their day sincerely, authentically ruined by this knowledge, and that makes it so beautiful to me

There are 600 Minneapolis police officers. There are 3000 federal thugs in the Twin Cities.

There are probably 5000 people plugged into one of the nested rapid response networks FOR MY NEIGHBORHOOD ALONE. Across the region, the number is probably 50,000.

THAT'S how you beat them. Build that.

It’s funny how Wikipedia used to seem relatively unreliable, because it was written by regular people instead of encyclopedia experts, and now it seems relatively reliable, because it’s written by regular people instead of glib CliffsNotes robots
wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

I like this framing. If you saw the first Matrix movie in a theater, you can remember a time before DHS.
Can you remember a time before Lose Yourself? You can remember a time before DHS.
This was the #1 song when the Homeland Security Act passed to create DHS

It is increasingly hysterical laugh/cry to me that we wrote a trilogy about three ladies with a grudge against biotech corporations who just want to do community organizing and open a library but evil rich men keep making them do heists and murders and then they have to reinvent democracy. 🤣

States : We have no way to close this budget gap except service cuts

Economists and Analysts: what about rolling back the last decade of unwise and hasty tax cuts starting with earners over 200,000

States : like we said we have no way to close this budget gap except service cuts

The Fit is pound for pound the best car made in the last 20 years. There are cheaper cars, there are nicer cars, & there are more efficient cars, but as a cheap & cheerful hatchback that depends on low weight to delight, few cars compare, & none are as practical & fun
You guys have no idea how good this car is for what we’re doing. You can lurk in alleys or behind parked SUVs. It drives like a go-cart. You’re three feet off the ground with exceptional visibility so I can pull snap u-turns or cut behind convoys

I love that Tik Tok John Oliver here is doing a better job of summarizing Trump's unlawfulness and fraud than 97% of the mainstream media.

I say this every time he does something good but: Really cannot be emphasized enough what a regular normie Democrat Chris Van Hollen is on paper

The primary difference between him and a Chuck Schumer, I believe, is that bad things sincerely piss him the fuck off

very much like Kilmar Abrego Garcia, where the fact of the administration's wrongs against you makes you an enemy to be fought by all available means.
This is appalling: Top DOJ officials are actively pushing for a criminal investigation into the widow of Renee Good, leading prosecutors to quit en masse, NYT is reporting.

Who in the White House ordered DOJ to do this? That's the next thing to establish.

My old vet used to call patients in with first name and surname.

My favourite ever was a vet calling out: "Evil? Evil Jones?"

Evil was a sweet little void in a cat carrier.
we’re in the vet’s office waiting room and they just called for Agamemnon. we all looked at the Great Dane but it turns out Agamemnon is an orange kitten in a backpack that makes him look like an astronaut cheese puff
