I committed to living in this not-the-most-expensive-by-any-measure-but-still-crazy-expensive area outside DC and I love it and I really feel I’m giving my children a gift by raising them here. But. We can just about manage rent in any apartment available in their school district. Just about.

I’m in the same cohort as you but missed my chance to buy a house due to unavoidable factors. Now I’m in my 40’s and get pitying or judgmental references to the fact that I still rent — and I’m wondering if I will ever be able to purchase my own home or will just rent until I die.

It's a small thing - but every extra minute they spend on one detention is one less minute they get to spend on another detention. In many areas Ice and DHS have moved to trying to be much more stealthy, I'm imagining in part cause it's hard to hit your numbers when every detention draws a crowd.
