This is incredible no matter how you look at it, but the fact that she did it in a minivan, makes it even more amazing. It's like winning a marathon while wearing a cast on your foot.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.
Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.
This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

This is a fantastic idea, and I see no reason not to try it – the other side, twists, distort, and ignores laws for political reasons, but this actually has merit
Someone should run in 2028 on a platform of claiming this entire term illegitimate because of the insurrection clause, thereby nullifying every piece of shit legislation and EO he's signed, all judicial appointments, and every pardon.

Back in the Stone Age (the 90s) I had a column about home video, and I would call stores to tell me what interesting things were being rented locally. One week, my guy at one of the independent stores with a porn room said "I don't have time this week, the Southern Baptist Convention is in town."

One thing I love that I only noticed after binge watching is that Columbo’s schtick with the perps completely turns off when he’s talking to anyone who’s not the perp. If it’s just a rando he needs a small fact from he gets really brusque and to-the-point, like “yadda yadda you’re in my way here.”

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

He's eloquent and forceful for sure, but he has a lot of nerve trying to out-Bible the evangelicals when there are pictures of him busting up a homeless encampment
Newsom: "Think about the state of mind of the VP. How do you square the circle when you go to a prayer breakfast? Old testament, new testament. What's the fundamental thing that connects John to Matthew to Proverbs? It's this notion of hunger, feeding the poor. It's central to advancing God's will."

Also, fans seem to have a great recall for how Columbo solved the crime (and the star who did it) in every episode. I had a recent bar conversation where the other guy and I spent like 30 minutes swapping episode details with ease. I was stunned by how much I remembered.

Enjoying Columbo, an endlessly rewatchable series. Falk's sly timing raises the level of every scene, as in "Blueprint for Murder," where he questions the arrogant architect, drops an incriminating fact, then reaches in his coat pocket and asks, "Ya want half a candy bar?"

something many political wonks fail to comprehend is that living a good life is a feeling, and that feeling is not determined solely by access to material goods, but a relative sense of where we're at within our society, community, and social circles, and right now, everyone feels like fucking shit
