"but we must have a way to deport illegal immigrants"

Hey, did you know the passport was invented in 1920? Like as a concept it's barely over 100 years old? I think about this a lot. It actually seems like humanity was managing fine without border control for the majority of our existence.

along with this we ought to ask some questions about why it is, as various journos have posted this week, that it was possible for mandelson to silence them by threatening to call their boss and have them fired

a very warm welcome to haolong dongi, a fascinating hadrosauroid from the early cretaceous yixian formation described by huang et al. 🎉 the near-complete holotype preserves highly unique integumentary structures unknown in other dinosaurs

if you've ever, even once, in your life taken joy from reading a trainwreck of a court document, you owe it to yourself to read this thread. clear your schedule. this is a feature-length film.
Hey, so, I don’t do civil litigation, is it generally considered good when the judge does this?

The ones that don't are getting fired. Hope that helps
Seriously though, what is going on at a collective belief/collective behavior level that such a large number of software engineers (enough for cloud-providers to be offering PaaS one-click openclaw installs?) are running headlong into this runaway agentic AI coding craze?

subscription software is a subscription first, software second
Called and spoke with Adobe customer support and the guy told me Adobe is discontinuing Animate because apparently the company can't think of any new features to add to the program and they feel it's gotten stale.

So they're just GETTING RID OF IT???

I think it's just a category error to view someone showing up in Epstein's email inbox as an individual engagement with an individually evil person; it's more like a data point placing that person in a diffuse web of elite influence and exchange that treats ordinary people as property.

Ok. Well, we all knew it was evil somehow but I really didn't expect Epstein to be responsible for why video games are bad now. That's just not what I would've thought.

LLMs are, more than anything, machines for creating intense apophenia. Of course if you point them at each other and then stare at what the spit out it looks very strange; of course it seductively seems like there's a "there" there. but it's just the bottom of a pachinko board.

People are over-reading this. The judge dismissed the *federal* murder charges because his (alleged) actions didn’t fit within federal law. He still faces *state* murder charges because it’s usually a state crime. The feds stepped in because they were mad NY doesn’t have the death penalty.

Nonsense. It's not possible to steal AI technology. I know this because Google's own LLMs are built using a complete copy of my legal blog, and that's somehow not stealing because, as Google says, a complete copy of my legal blog is both trivial and utterly essential for their tech to work.

Hey did you remember that thing yesterday where the government announced 'free AI training' to everyone? Do you recall that? Does that ring a bell?
Microsoft and Blackrock have "have largely given up on organic adoption [of AI] by consumers. They have moved on to a new dream of forced adoption mandated by government and managerial coercion."
