I kinda wonder, given everything else we know about Hasan, if his "shoot you in the head" comment is projection on his part.
Oh boy, did Hasan just fly into an anti-Democrat rage after being criticized by two trans people? You'd think he'd be more mature than this, but...

They think good is weak & evil is based, because they are wicked. ICE is doing wicked things & hiring wicked men to do them. It is difficult to look such a thing in the eye, but that is all there there is to them
This is just unconscionable man

One of my favorite nitpicky complaints was trashing her frequent line of "looking forward to what can be, unburdened by what has been" and pretending like it was a meaningless or confusing phrase, when in reality it clearly expresses how most of us feel right now, more than ever
All the complaints about her campaign are basically stupid nitpicks and the people convinced they’d have changed EVERYTHING by adjusting the words in her ads or whatever are out of their minds. Trump’s support was built out of years of irresponsible false nostalgia for his hellish first presidency

Abandonment of coercive state power as a site of contention + carving out of ‘as a treat’ exceptions to universalism and empiricism are I think in retrospect the main issues with wokeness the first time around I think.
woke 1.0 loved social sanction but hated every other means of coercion, including the law. it was primarily a game people played online with others who had consented by their politics to participate, and its objective was extirpating the hidden seed of evil in the things in which it was latent.
because it feels like there’s whole swathes of people who feel like Woke 1.0 didn’t go far enough, and those two dynamics seem….at odds, but that might be a misreading by me.

Reactionary architecture is proudly anti-historical. Architecture has always been constrained by the practical limits of technology and cost. If the ancients had modern building materials, engineering know how, and construction equipment, they would not have built what they did.

i have a problem both with passing up the rampant, masturbatory eugenics and also with thinking it's uniquely jewish. every ethnocentrist or ardent eugenicist is convinced their demographic specifically is superior, regardless of which demographic that is, and they are uniformly awful people
Yeah that’s not really the story though but nice try

I think there is too much reluctance to simply not take people’s professed political concerns seriously on their own terms. They’re often just a mask for a desire for a collective identitarian status triumph over an out-group scapegoat, like sports competitions

I have a generalised version of this - while there are specific exceptions, it just feels like a _huge_ proportion of the American conservative movement revealed themselves to not really care about anything? Like, nothing concrete at least. It's all just vague ressentiments around Gender and Race.
tiktok deal and subsequent rebirth, coupled with generalized revelations that most china hawks don’t care at all about trump undermining their supposedly all important great power competition…..is tremendously blackpilling for me.

Absolutely crazy that Mehmet Oz is calling Armenian a "dialect" while trying to gin up a crackdown on alleged systemic fraud (which he blames on ethnic organized crime)

Adding this to my collection of Metal AF quotes outside my office.

“Do not tell me ‘everything gets worse’ because that is a lie which denies the victorious struggle of millions. It does not serve the ultimate victory of the people to pretend that we are impotent against the forces of darkness.”
for the first 20 years of my life, it was legal to imprison me for the crime of loving my partner.

for the first 32 years of my life, it was legal to prohibit me from marrying my partner.

do not tell me "everything gets worse" because that is a lie which denies the victorious struggle of millions.

This is the lesson over and over btw. People really want something they can believe in that they can put into practice.
I have begun to think that Minnesota pushback to ICE was unique and a model because it gave people something to do. It wasn’t about just going out in streets for rallying purposes. People had a mission: videos, whistles, information and communication flow to communities. They had something to do.

Does literally anybody actually like Stephen Miller, beyond *maybe* his wife and definitely not including his actual family? What is this guy’s constituency, exactly?
Katie Miller is now jumping in to blame CBP and defend her husband.

(All of this shows how vulnerable Stephen Miller is, so we need to keep the pressure on to get him out of the administration.)

To say aloud that the vice president is friends with Nazis and to point out that his Holocaust tweet is crafted so as not to offend them is to sound crazy to everyone who doesn’t know both are stone cold facts. Frustrating thing.
Legitimately a feat of carefully calculated writing to issue a Holocaust Remembrance Day statement of this length without mentioning either (1) the people who perpetrated the Holocaust or (2) the people against whom they perpetrated it

“Are MAGA Republicans worse than Democrats” and “I don’t care that 20 million people are right now dying of starvation and disease as a direct result of the difference” are identical statements
You can't fix the problems without fixing the politics, you won't fix the politics without addressing the problems there. If Democrats can't admit their failings are they really any better than MAGA? 2/2

Reed bet Doom twenty dollars that logic and reason would prevail in the 2024 presidential election. Victor has that twenty framed above his bed.
But like it's gotta be pure grade, love of the game, hating a dude. Doom absolutely wouldn't do it just to beat Reed because it wouldn't sufficiently prove he was better.

it's also a demand never made of, say, rural people who won't go into the city because they think they'll be murdered.
"getting outside your bubble" is an admirable thing when it means trying a new hobby or introducing yourself to your neighbor or watching an art film but people only want to apply it to "being a little more racist just to see how it feels"
these people seem like idiots
