my hunch is that a lot of people who don't normally cook on the regular flood the grocery store when there is bad weather approaching and they are shopping in a basically haphazard way (there were no mushrooms, for example)

You don't get it cause you don't WANT to get it, but this cycle is going nowhere until you do.
But to accept this framing you'd have to reject "Shining City on a Hill" exceptionalism and admit benefiting from an inherently unequal structure domestically and internationally and then reject that too. Yelling at Black people about their lived experiences (and recorded US history) is more fun. 🤷🏾♀️
Acknowledging that the American project is fatally flawed isn’t doomerism. You can find it in yourself to know that we can build better as it meets its inevitable collapse. You can believe we have an existence & identity that’s not bound to a state. A state & the people are not the same thing.

I know that a lot of these legislators are busy & perhaps aren't seeing the extent of this tyranny, but if they're willing to give more money to ICE, they're nuts.
