Boy am I glad the first replacements for these ferries will be arriving in Feb 2026, with port upgrades at Picton and Wellington nearing completion after two and a half years of work.

Oh wait, hold on a second, just hearing that ferries won't be here until 2029.

The NZ Labour Party must provide hope to, and inspire, a generation of people.

If the policy options it will finalise at this weekend’s conference don’t do that, don’t provide a radical alternative and sense of optimism, people will continue to leave Aotearoa in droves.
Captures the mood of much of the country under this government - bleak, with a sense that everything is broken, that there is no opportunity for young people to get ahead, and that the government simply doesn't care.

If you read one thing today, make it this - the deepest dive I’ve seen yet tying all of the many things to worry about on the school curriculum together in one place, and underlining concerning links to both the Atlas Network and Project 2025 - links that we can’t afford to ignore in any reporting.

At what point do we publicly accept that NZ is deeply corrupt and the only reason why we don’t have a culture of direct payoffs and bribery (that we cite as the evidence for us not being corrupt) is because it’s not needed? The boys club gets what it wants through people playing their social roles.

This is blatant political interference in rge New Zealand Curriculum that shouldn't be tolerated.
Education professionals should be deciding what is in the NZ Curriculum, not politicians from 8% parties pandering to the worst of NZ society to the detriment of our students.

What we're witnessing with #Melissa is ultra rare in the history of known hurricanes in the Atlantic. This level of sustained intensity and feasting on every joule of ocean heat content without any real disruption is incredible.

Not hyperbole: Jamaica is facing a generational catastrophic event.

Crowing about removing the concept that "Aotearoa New Zealand’s histories has been shaped by the use of power", I guess means Act subscribes to the 'no thoughts, head empty' theory of history as a series of random events that include 'Ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece' where no power was exercised.

The solutions proposed for New Zealand's (and virtually every other country's) problems are always like:
"We need to make people work for more years"
"We have to cut back on services, I'm sorry, there is just no other way"
"We have to cut benefits for young people"

never:
"We need to tax the rich"
