welcome, new followers. it is required of anyone following me that you read this Harry Potter story I wrote, the reading of which should answer questions like “why in God’s name would you write a Harry Potter story” and many more besides

If I come across someone screaming “FIGHT ME!!!!” in real life I take a wide berth and when I see it here I just casually block them
Ratio me. Please. It's a badge of honor. If you don't like a link, go follow some chicken-heart who needs the approval of the thought-police. Caitlin Flanagan of @theatlantic.com is a tremendous writer and this piece is an excellent read.

Also? Getting comfortable enough with failure that failure no longer crushes you is like a basic survival skill if you’re hypersensitive/have anxiety, and the only way to do that is to just go ahead and fail repeatedly

people don’t realize that there are things that they need to practice to get better at them

they think it should be easy so they keep just trying occasionally and then deciding it’s not for them

The liberal determination that the use of force is forbidden to all only ensures that the people with the least respect for liberalism can or will employ force and no one else will allow it, engage in it, or even know how to do it. This misunderstanding of power is how we got to where we are today.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, some of my favorite lyrics:

“And when it happens, when it happens (I won't be holding on)
So let it happen, let it happen…
It’s gonna feel so good”

I all-nightered a second-year law essay in a frenzy fuelled by concentrated instant coffee sludge whilst teaching myself to touch-type, all so I could go snowboarding the following morning. I passed, and I can still touch-type.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

This is going to be another dreary consequence of AI: as people use these things more and their output penetrates further into the consciousness, even original writing is going to appear more like LLM

As funny as this is conceptually, the writing *really* smacks of LLM

Watching Bluesky turn into Twitter 2 has been as depressing as it has been utterly predictable

It’s the same functionality, and people expected the form to be different?

this is par for the course for the NZI: their papers are academically junk ideological nonsense that are almost fully self-referential and their op-eds tend to run the same course

Every time I see another raft of posts kvetching about how a social media site is terrible in the same way all social media sites are terrible, I’m going to spam the link to my snail mail club to remind people that there’s an alternative to this bullshit www.tworuru.com/printclub/
