LRP: Word of mouth is such a powerful tool to help out authors you like for free.

I personally don't often bother reading reviews when looking for books to read, but I almost always pick up a book if a friend recommended it. Or someone with similar tastes to me says they liked it in a conversation.

The em dash is the Swiss Army knife of punctuation, and I will not be disarmed.

This is a personal mission for me now. I'm about to dedicate my next damn release to em dashes.

Fuck AI.
are we still on about em dashes and ai. imo human writers should just use the em dashes even harder. we should be out here pummeling out those em dashes like we're emily dickinson

So many review sites are there, Bookbub, Goodreads, Storygraph... You can review literally anywhere except amazon without having to pay anything. Just one line would do if you loved the book. You don't know how much it means to authors to have that review.

in all seriousness, I owe so much to word of mouth! you don't have to write a fancy review with quotes and citations, just a quick one line "gay 👍" is awesome. you don't have to make a year end roundup in Canva, you can just tell your situationship you recently read a cool gay heist. it's that easy!

If you've enjoyed The Map and the Territory, it would mean a lot to me if you were to review it! This book only has 27 ratings on Storygraph and 50 on Goodreads; I'd love to see it reach a wider audience.

THIS! I know I've been marketing my books to death because i have a release Friday. But I know not everyone has funds. And that's okay. Share things. Review us. Just...be there. There's so much you can do to support authors that costs nothing.

Reviews are the lifeblood of indie authors.

In the last few years, reviews have trickled to a near standstill, which creates a conundrum: need readers to get reviews, but need reviews to get readers.

If you take the time to write even a single sentence review, YOU ARE AMAZING THANK YOU I LOVE YOU

Hell, it doesn't even have to be a review. Go pop a rating up somewhere! They make our days, and help other people decide to take a risk on us.

This, please! I know not everyone has the bandwidth to leave reviews. As someone with chronic illness, I really get it. But if you have literally 2 minutes to say something, even if it's just "loved it", that gets us closer to the minimum number of reviews Amazon requires to make the book visible!

word of mouth is the BEST way to support creators. A personal recommendation to friends, loved ones, mutuals, carries more weight than pretty much anything. Tell them about the stuff you love LOUDLY and PASSIONATELY

Chiming in here. If you're looking from the inside, it's really tough to really understand JUST HOW MUCH REVIEWS MATTER.

Our projects literally live and die by them. You want to support an indie author?

Leave a review. It helps so much more than you realize.

THIS, though. My lowest tier on my P@treon is $2 a month; $24 a year. Less than...well, most everything else costs. It may seem inconsequential, me being like, "Support me for $2 a month!" What will that $2 do for me?

Everything.

I like to roll this out now and again to give folks perspective; not to guilt trip, or even advertise for my own work.

But lately, it seems even more important, so here it is:

$5 a month to most people seems like nothing. Here's what it means to me and my work. 🧵

My favorite romance microtrope is forearm appreciation. Give me a good forearm flex in a shirt of rolled up sleeves to the elbows and our love interest going feral over that gorgeous flex of skin and muscle and veins and I'm fucking yours.
