That drop-off in 2024 is because Israel killed a whole bunch of the health care workers that were keeping count. This ain't the flex you think it is.
More people are dying in Gaza this year that Trump is president than last year when Biden was president yet people are regularly in my comments upset at Kamala Harris who lost the election while acting like Gaza is now a vacation destination under Trump.

34XXSP talk: MuOS won't do Bluetooth or video out and KNULLI now crashes when trying to load any of the demo roms and games it came with less than two hours after install.

A lot of those store hated browsers, and went out of their way to to discourage it. So much of retail death was self-inflicted to fight "loitering."
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.
