Family, fly-fishing, good beer. I work in finance, but am a geography nerd. 7th generation Oregonian.

You’ve got to kick at the darkness ‘til it bleeds daylight.
This would look nice on the wall next to my Multnomah Falls and John Day River prints!
I think this one is about done.

I would like all of you, each and every one, to go google “Miss Universe National Costume Competition 2025 Norway” right now

We don’t need to reform ICE.
We don’t need alternatives to ICE.
We don’t need to engage in dishonest debates wondering what the U.S. would do without ICE.

ICE isn’t even 23 years old. Most adults know a world without ICE. And the billions used to fund ICE can be used to meet people’s basic needs.

Bingo.

And imagine the Democratic politician who said this did so as he sat next to the podcaster's assassin whom he reminded everyone was his close personal friend
Imagine if a Democratic politician said “a lot of people didn’t like him” with respect to that assassinated podcaster. Seriously.

This joke is specifically for people born between 1968 and 1976.
Today I saw three kids -- boys, maybe 12, 13, 14 years old -- riding bikes, and they were holding fishing poles and one had a bucket, and they said "hello!" as they passed. Then I, a Normal Adult, yelled after them, "Looking for Ray Brower down by the train tracks?" and they uhh rode away faster.

Have been waiting for Jeff's obit. Rogue was one of a kind and outside of the Northwest was the Oregon beer people knew. Happy to have worked there ever so briefly.
Now that Rogue has apparently shed its mortal coil, I have to do another brewery obit. (Ugh!) Given Rogue’s reputation today, one may imagine its legacy is merely surviving. In fact, it was a hugely influential brewer, and at one time its beers were considered groundbreaking.
Rogue Ales, 1988-2025 — Beervana
With the apparent permanent closure of Rogue Ales, it’s time to consider the legacy of this early craft brewery. It may surprise many drinkers who today think of Rogue as tame and boring to learn that...

Spent a few hours out at the river today. A bit early for the winter fish, but I have had luck in November in the past. Water was low, but that will be changing soon.

Is any of this statement surprising, though?
I'm sorry, I'm still having a hard time getting over that the owner of the NY Times is in the Epstein files thing and they haven't even acknowledged this in any reporting.

well, it’s a *little* about economics.

true, republicans would rather pay a white person than a brown person. but their *ideal* solution has always been to pay nobody at all
It's a revealing moment...

J.D. Vance welcomes a two-legged robot helping on the job site. But if that helper is a person named Jose, he calls it a threat. Same tasks, same productivity boost.

The inconsistency reveals this isn’t about economics.

Framing this as “upending” Gaetz’s political career and making him a passive victim.
I honestly don’t know how NYT could be any more the paper of record for defending pedophiles
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9
