Reform UK: a political front for oil money (that hemorrhages voter popularity when the electorate learn what they're really voting for.)

What we should have been pushing for all of these years is an ecosystem of "age attestation" with the burden on the user to pay/whatever an "age assurance provider" who offers a token or service that the platform MUST accept, similar to the ecosystem of "The bearer of this card is over 18" cards.

My morning coffee had just worn off when the door opened. I knew from the silhouette who it was.

"Leo. Hear you made it to the top."

"Yeah. Got a job for you." He said.

"Why me?"

"Catholicism needs your... unique skills again." He said, smiling darkly. "Time to bring them down. From the inside"

Had a dream last night that was the usual mess, but at the end, I was watching a giant polar bear walk toward me, carrying a volcano like a snailshell on its back.

“Welp,” I said to the person next to me, “that’s either a god or a Pokemon.”

This is annoying me so much. I cannot believe the BBC is making me defend James Daunt, but this article title is some absolute clickbait bullshit.

"As a bookseller, we sell what publishers publish, but I can say that instinctively that is something that we would recoil [from]," he said.

Viewers/readers/players anticipating your plot twists in advance is GOOD ACTUALLY.

YOU DID A GOOD JOB WHY WOULD YOU RUIN IT. YOUR JOB ISN'T TO OUTSMART YOUR AUDIENCE. UNGUESSABLE PLOT TWISTS ARE BAD TWISTS.

Ai text detectors worry me. Firstly, as here (apologies for the X post), they produce false positives. Secondly, I dislike the idea of putting my (or anyone else’s) writing into such a detector, because I’m not entirely convinced it won’t be used to further train something somewhere.

It absolutely wasn't. Might be showing my age here, but 20 years ago was not actually that long ago, in terms of this
Nigel Farage asked about Reform MS Laura Anne Jones (who the Senedd Commissioner found had used a racist term in a staff WhatsApp chat in August 2023 while discussing TikTok writing: “No chinky spies for me.”)
"Well, she used a word that colloquially, probably was meant in a nice way 20 years ago."

Yes. This. Please.

You don't need to use the industry's marketing terms when informing your readers, because those terms are actively misinforming them.
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪
