Late to the party: They Might Be Giants (s/t), Element of Light, Reign in Blood, Big World, Skylarking

2026 PRIMARIES.

Watched STOP MAKING SENSE for the 1000th time. While it has no bad songs, just wanted to mention that "What a Day That Was" fucking rips.

IDK if anyone but Byrne was particularly invested in a song from his modern-dance collab with Twyla Tharp, but they all go so hard.

There IS plenty of time for a better Maine candidate to emerge. I'm skewed over here in Illinois, where the primaries are ungodly early and tje paperwork deadline (incl. petition signatures) is less than 2 weeks from now.

In Maine, gathering sigs can't even start until Jan 1 for pete's sake.

If you are a liberal who (correctly) scoffed at Vance's hand-waving of the Nazi chat, but now your response to a Dem candidate with Nazi tattoos is "Well we're none of us perfect," I want you to think about whether your standards are real, and if not, how that might be exacerbating our problems.

time flies Fun Fact: The Mitchell & Webb "Are We the Baddies?" sketch is a year older than Graham Platner's Totenkopf tattoo.

I wrote Dean Gemmell, CEO of #USACurling, a letter. And when I say "wrote," I mean WROTE. It will take two posts to show it all. The text will be in the alt. (1/2)

I look forward to this 2025 world series in which a team from the leader of the free world faces a team from the United States of America.

LOL my curling 🥌 club's FB page has locked down political content/discussion.

In other news, curling equipment in the US has magically gotten more expensive, and fewer Canadian teams are likely to attend our bonspiels. Gee, no way to know how, why, or who's responsible 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

It is remarkable to me how quickly Cub fandom awarded a rent-free mind apartment to the Milwaukee Brewers.

I don't even think they bothered getting the keys back from the Cardinals.

Watching F1 for some reason and not since Veronica Mars has a media product insisted on saying a main character's first AND last name so many times.

I can also confirm that many white people care more about harm to dogs than harm to Black/brown people, so this is not a bad way to draw them in to the evils being done by this regime.

Distance, both of us dropping the activity that brought us together in the first place, and — oh yeah, and a worldwide pandemic — means I haven't had a conversation with CDB in years. So it was nice to hear @hooverstreetrag.org spiel about minutiae I know next to nothing about. As is his way.
It's time to ruin your childhood with @hooverstreetrag.org , but not really because a lot of things hold up surprisingly well here

Also we don't get into it, but lord if this was made today would the wrong types of folks be so pissed about Roadblock and Scarlett

Introduce yourself using a food you refuse to eat, a film you’ll never watch again, a song you can’t stand

1. Raisins. Curiously OK with most other dried fruits
2. Goonies. If I wanted to listen to kids scream at each other I mighta' had kids
3. Two Princes, but anything Spin Doctors, really
Introduce yourself using a food you refuse to eat, a film you’ll never watch again, a song you can’t stand

1. Pineapple is really repulsive.

2. "Salo" was absolutely the worst date night I ever had

3. There were some strong contenders but then Samhain made me listen to Temporary Secretary
Introduce yourself using a food you refuse to eat, a film you’ll never watch again, a song you can’t stand

I'm vegan.

I'll sit through dreadful films for fun. But rarely watch things twice.

I really don't like defining myself by things I don't like, but Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. Apparently.

I honestly believe Christians have a spiritual responsibility to shun ICE agents and make them unwelcome in society

This is different from the moral responsibility we all have to oppose the evil they do, and the patriotic responsibility to oppose their crimes
Abolish ICE.

If you work for ICE, you should quit to save your immortal soul.
Every day at noon, no matter how busy, Johny Merida Aguilar left his construction job and hurried to his 5-year-old son's school to feed him. His son has brain cancer and generally only accepts food from his father.

Merida Aguilar was arrested by ICE in September and faces deportation to Bolivia.
