the adhd cycle of procrastinating on things so you get overwhelmed and then you're so overwhelmed that you procrastinate harder as multiple life fires spiral out of control
The first software I ever pirated was when I printed out the BASIC code for "Lemonade" on my school's Apple ][ and typed the whole thing into my computer at home!

They remain, not as ruins but reminders. Built with hope, they still invite wonder. In shadowed stillness, devotion lingers. Each stone, each beam, still listens for footsteps once known.

[crashing out] What’s so funny? Wait are they laughing at me? Fucking assholes. I hate this stupid world. Why do I live
The turtle laughed. The lizards laughed. The snake laughed. The field mouse laughed, and Frog laughed.

Also, ORGY OF THE DEAD, written by Ed Wood. In high school, my friends and I rented this expecting a sexy Hammer-style erotic horror flick. Not only was there no orgy, but there was no real story to speak of...just scene after scene of mostly-clothed women doing "sultry" dancing.

Four horror films that were not at ALL what I expected (mild spoilers for obvious reasons):

AUDITION - NOT a romantic comedy
MARTYRS - NOT a revenge thriller
BONE TOMAHAWK - a western, but not how I was expecting
THE OTHERS - a ghost story, but not how I was expecting
I think it's worth noting too that Young/College Republicans are all about recruiting young people. In the 90s at least, you wanted to appear sane and respectable so you didn't scare off prospective converts.
I think this is an important point--Republicans were a bigger tent in the 90s and appealed to people who identified as socially liberal/fiscally conservative. (They were still racist, but no more so than your average white centrist Democrat.)
Embarrassed not to have realized this as someone who lived through the “Whazzaaaap” beer ad
Ohhhh "WhatsApp" like "what's up" I get it now, took me ten years

It's hard for us to appreciate the true scale of Mount Everest. So to put it in a context that we can all understand, here's a comparison chart showing the height of Mount Everest alongside other tall things

Halloween candy is so expensive I'll be handing out One Musketeer, A Reeses Piece, and Nerd
I went to a very conservative southern school in the 70s/80s, and no one said blatantly racist shit out loud because no one had to. There was no pent-up racist energy to blow off. If you did say it out loud, you were considered rude and uncouth.
Whenever I hear about a promising actor who mysteriously drops out of acting, or a terrible actor who mysteriously keeps getting work, I assume the reason is something awful and unsavory.
