At least some Democrat is finally willing to get caught trying
Rep. Thanedar has filed two articles of impeachment against Hegseth, one for "murder and conspiracy to murder" and the other for "reckless and unlawful mishandling of classified information." 🧵

(Full disclosure: I was happy to consult a bit on drafting this.)

I think you're basically doing PR for a person like this if you don't force them to grapple with why they gleefully participated in the heinous political culture they're now decrying. Do you understand why you were wrong or are you just mad because you didn't expect to be a victim
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I sent those deaths threats directly to him in a text message & informed him of what his name calling & words were doing - it was a direct assassination threat on my son. And he was extremely - I won't repeat what he said - but it was extremely unkind. No sympathy. No care"

Wow: Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention (named for Holocaust survivor Raphael Lemkin, who coined term "genocide") calls Clinton's remarks "genocide denial."

"Young people in the US are not stupid or gullible. They simply reject genocide – something the Secretary might consider doing as well."

Imagine going on national television to be hailed as a visionary, singular genius while simultaneously admitting you are too stupid to figure out how to take care of an infant, a task accessible to literally tens of billions of people throughout human history

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

I wish I loved anything as much as Democrats love blaming marginalized communities for their own oppression by the state. I wouldn’t have voted for Trump if I were an Arab-American either but what exactly was Harris offering other than continuity of a government that was actively abetting genocide?
America’s first Arab majority city of which 42% of votes went to Trump versus 36% for Kamala Harris is upset with Democrats for not doing more to stop Trump’s anti-immigrant actions.

I keep wondering, what did they expect? Did they sleep through his entire first term?
This Arab-majority city backed Trump. It's not going well.

I saw a headline referring to the “inaugural” FIFA peace prize. Like okay. I think it’s even odds they never award another one.

Something every 2026/28 Dem should commit to is investigations of any company that did deals with Trump. A kind of forward guidance to get companies to think twice in advance of what’s coming.
Fox News will applaud this but can you imagine their coverage if President Biden hatched a secret plan to take over Fox News and revamp its programming to be nicer to him
New WSJ reporting: "During a December visit to Washington, David Ellison offered assurances to Trump administration officials that if he bought Warner, he'd make sweeping changes to CNN, a common target of President Trump's ire, people familiar with the matter said..."

Josh Marshall is absolutely right about this as a matter of constitutional restoration BUT ALSO

You can't do ANY of the "kitchen table" agenda EITHER without abolishing the power of the six corrupt GOP justices. They'll kill any good Dem policy (eg student loan forgiveness) just to watch it die.

Sometimes I wonder if run of the mill liberals are capable of understanding that “simply not as bad as Hitler” is a really lousy endorsement for Democratic standard-bearers
Sometimes I wonder if, in a parallel universe, you had an election between actual Adolph Hitler against, say, Kamala Harris, whether some of these folks would be able to make a decision to chose the non-Hitler candidate. Or be like “I’ll leave it up to my neighbors!”

I left Twitter when that site was taken over by an abusive racist troll. Now we’re seeing that this site seems to be run by a whole TEAM of them?
Bluesky’s head of trust & safety responding with a sarcastic image macro to a woman upset her husband was kidnapped by ICE is embarrassingly unprofessional & cruel behavior.

that account was then banned by Bluesky Trust & Safety. horrendously poor community management. what purpose does this serve?

Kent is a justifiable pick but being the only one in that group is wild.
Jeff Kent gets voted into Hall of Fame on contemporary era ballot by getting 14 of 16 votes (needed 12). Carlos Delgado (9 votes) Don Mattingly (6) and Dale Murphy (6) all fell short.

Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Gary Sheffield and Fernando Valenzuela each got less than 5 votes

this gets to the fundamental lawlessness. the difference between law as a game and law as a tool of government.

birthright citizenship is the law. nothing has changed. the documents are the same. if that can change based on *nothing*, you don't have a real constitution in the first place.
also, let’s say wurman is right. well, we have had nearly 160 years of unlimited birthright citizenship that has been affirmed again and again by generations of Americans. whatever the original intent, that is what the birthright clause *means*.

insane local news just dropped. i've lived in a part of KC for ~decade and it's been an inside joke with friends and service workers that the local biz/party district is ran by a cartel of biz owners who bully out new ventures and replace them with generic dive bars for white suburbanites.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

There’s an elder abuse component to it for sure but also he SHOULD have gone to jail and is broadly getting everything he ever wanted. So I will go ahead and reserve the sympathy.
My opinions on what Trump is doing to this country, and Trump himself, are very clear. However, if the “3-5 months to live” guy is right, what they’re doing to him is elder abuse.
