Avuncular curmudgeon. Arrant pedant. Remarkably unremarkable, consequently inconsequential. Never could get the hang of Thursdays. (Scorpio) (✶✶✶✶) https://hubbit.blog
Pinned

I see we can pin now. This was my pin over there, for years. I guess over here it can be a pin of a pin…
Last re-whatever-these-are-now: I have a special fondness for the amazing west coast voice actors. Mel Blanc of course, but Daws Butler, Paul Frees, Peter Leeds, June Foray, and Bea Benaderet come to mind. Butler, Frees, Leeds, and Foray all worked with Stan Freberg as well.

Daws Butler, BOTD (1916-1988) is on the Mount Rushmore of voice actors of the 20th century.
Yogi Bear, Elroy Jetson, and dozens of other iconic and instantly recognizable voices.
Butler later trained Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson) and many other notable voice actors.

Also, if you plant them they don't actually grow birds.
"Bird seed" is actually somewhat of a misnomer, as anyone can eat the seed.

Of course Chicago has a Miracle Mile Shopping Center. It is located 900 miles north of the Gulf of America.

The writers of Doctor Who solved this problem decades ago.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Watching the Netflix series "Death by Lightning", and enjoying watching @bradleywhitford.bsky.social in a different White House, albeit an earlier one than that which hosted Josh Lyman.

I am old enough to remember opening my usenet reader to find two new groups had been created: alt.fan.tonya.harding.whack.whack.whack and alt.fan.nancy.kerrigan.ouch.ouch.ouch .

You kids today have idea how inventive the pre-corporatized internet was. :P

Maybe his replacement will restore BBC Sounds and on-demand programmes to the rest of the world. Instead of, you know, taking things back 25 years the way they did.

Why stop at a 50-year mortgage? Let's go full dystopia and make it a 150 years, with your debt lovingly passed down like an heirloom of financial despair. Generation after generation, working not for wealth, but for the privilege of almost owning drywall. Why own a house, when you can haunt it?

As a lover of headwear, both dressy and utilitarian, I wish I knew which make and model hat he’s wearing. I’d probably get one. (Would be the only hat I own that’s not an Akubra from Australia)

Great. Now I have the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald in *my* head. Plus? I lost The Game.
goddammit my spouse just up and started humming the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, which I’d finally ousted from my brain after Cathy Wurzer inexplicably played some of it earlier this morning

“Oh, sorry. I just assumed it was still in your head, too.” Well, yeah. It is NOW.

"you don't know what it was like, kid. the streets were like nothing we'd seen before. bread, cheese, meat... we faced it all. you'd be walking down the block, saying hello to the locals, then BAM -- sandwich slams into your kevlar. the smell of mustard and onions... oh god! I can still smell it."
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."
