The “Oops, protein powder is full of lead” thing would explain so much.

I think it might be something like that, like the guy who stole the famous painting and hid it in his desk just to look at.
willardfoxton.bsky.social
We needed Columbo to solve it, but sadly he’s been stolen.

A pal was furious with me for “spoilering” who becomes the emperor in HBOs ROME and I was like “this information has been in the public domain for 2000+years”

The woman in front of me at the post office had been weighing the different postage options with the cashier for 16 minutes.

I thought with one person in front of me it would be quick but no

Looked into it. The guy who bought it for IMDB didn’t exist.

Someone posed as IMDB and effectively stole the rights to Columbo in the mid 2000s, as far as we could tell.

Wanted to make it as a podcast called THE MAN WHO STOLE COLUMBO but we couldn’t find him!

My best “rights jail” story is Columbo- we were looking to do an audio adaptation for NBC who we did a load of work with.

They asked their rights people if they still had Columbo and they told us it was sold to IMDB.

Called IMDB they said they never bought them.

Still think it’s a shame that they couldn’t work out the rights for Shyamalan’s Tales from the Crypt. It’s a bummer that the Cryptkeeper is just in TV rights jail

They were very stylish at the time! The (English posh pashmina wearing) ladies loved them

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Conservative criticism of Labour I absolutely did not give enough intellectual houseroom to pre-election was 'none of these guys have ever created a job'.

Headlines going to the English requirements but I'd completely missed this part of the plans, yet another act of idiotic self harm. Completely incompatible with the government's stated aims on housebuilding, growth, etc.
The immigration skills charge is being raised by 32%

For the record I didn’t vote either way, because I was on honeymoon and getting postal votes where I lived was a nightmare (tower hamlets)

But obviously I have eyes!

I can see for example my journey home to see my mum has gone from 1hr20mins to 2hrs because the m20 is a lorry park now.

The issue is the local members who decide selections LOVE Brexit and are not just suspicious but actively hostile to people who voted remain. I just can’t see how they get out of it tbh.

This is an outstanding piece by @stephenkb.bsky.social, and it’s absolutely true and I can’t see any way out of it for the tories.

I recently said to a friend (a fellow ex-Tory) that i could see it being a disqualifying black mark for MP selections into the 2050s.

Poorly so doing some cool old world modelling - Sylvianian road wardens/vampire hunters, and a Von Zeppel steam tank

I enjoyed the REST IS HISTORY book club bonus episodes so much I’d instantly subscribe if they came back and think the format - 2 intelligent people talking knowledgeably about classic books - is actually brilliant. Great chemistry too.

If you have an MFA you should be forced to wear a shock collar that goes off whenever you write anything approaching auto-fiction or anything without a plot.

You just get inured to this sort of preposterous behaviour but we should all be aware that he’s a mad toddler king and everyone answering his demands is a pathetic worm

Johnson: "Together with my friend Speaker Ohana of the Israeli Knesset we're going to rally speakers and presidents of parliaments around the world so we will jointly nominate President Donald J Trump for next year's Nobel Prize. No one has ever deserved that prize more & that is an objective fact."

I feel very sorry for the negotiating teams at the other end of the process, but when one side can say “yes you can afford it, we know your boss has a space rocket” it’s hard to have much ground to hold
willardfoxton.bsky.social
Well they have a budget to spend and the producers don’t have big boy Hollywood agents. And forget doubling or tripling, we did a non-potter but fairly big ip adaptation and actors came in charging 20x their normal rate.
willardfoxton.bsky.social
From memory the going rate paid by the big publishers was £90 per finished hour, which is obviously unsustainable in the west.
willardfoxton.bsky.social
Boringly it’s because the audiobook market has been absolutely hollowed out and the only remaining competition is between the guy doing it in Taipei for slave wages and an AI.

We were asked to quote on an audiobook range and our quote was unbelievably over the odds at *podcast* rates.

Picard: Wesley, I notice you’ve been requesting a lot of computer files from the early 21st century. Records from that time are… inaccurate at best. There’s a reason we call that era The Great Cringe

Wesley: You’re only saying that because you don’t eat enough beef tallow
