If I had known the two paragraphs about genAI in my article today would be so controversial, I would have expanded them a bit! Here's a rough transcript of the relevant portion of my interview with Swen Vincke, so everyone has all the context. (Full article here: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...)

Thread of maps, some of which I took the liberty of uploading high quality versions of.
Whenever people want to justify the de facto single state reality of the occupied Palestinian territory I just show them maps like this and ask them what it means

i'm glad i rewatched this because i have a much better handle on why i was so obsessed with it as a teenager. besides the fact that it is very funny and a great send-up of heavy metal bands, it has the loose feel of a hang out. putting the movie on feels a bit like chilling with the bros.
watching the new criterion 4k of THIS IS SPINAL TAP. haven't seen this movie in a decade but I did watch it basically every week as a teenager and I still remember every single line

it's worth noting 1) that there's a longstanding tradition of trying to play solidarity against basic self-respect and 2) that the Combahee River Collective's coining of the term "identity politics" was directly in response to this
i also believe in building a better world for workers. i also believe that all people are entitled to respect and dignity and that there ought to be social sanction for those who openly degrade others. you call me a “n*gger” to my face and i am not going to smile and shake your hand.

it's actually kinda funny in a way to get to the finish line of curing cancer and having the government go eh you know what. never mind
A tiny trial in New York has shown that personalized mRNA vaccines can provoke massive, lasting immune responses against pancreatic cancer, even as sweeping federal cuts now threaten the fragile labs required to produce them.

a really big job for the whites lately is not letting bad faith actors or incredibly up-their-own-ass academics try to act like racism and fascist tattoos are the native religion of the working class (which never includes people who aren't white)

the point of organizing isn't just to get every worker into the union, it's also to cultivate the mindset that an injury to one is an injury to all. racism and sexism - the idea that you are inherently better than another worker - WILL rot the foundation of your union

what do you mean you hate black licorice? do you also hate picking at that itchy little bit of skin around your fingernail? do you also hate walking in the rain when a cold breeze cuts through you? do you also hate the feeling of knowing you've let down a loved one?

Anyone who thinks that movies nowadays aren’t as good as they used to be should watch this - trailers of the most aired movies on HBO in the 1980s.

There’s always been crappy movies, you just forgot all those.
