Remember that one time when a court ordered ICE to stop doing this and people were like "see the system is working calm down" and then ICE ignored them completely and kept doing the same shit

www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/1/...
This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

What Trump means when he says "Venezuela's oil is now ours:" purest late 19th century natural resource imperialism. bsky.app/profile/atru...
VARNEY: Are we now actively selling the oil we're taking from Venezuelan tankers?

ENERGY SECRETARY CHRIS WRIGHT: Oh, absolutely

VARNEY: How much of that oil are we going to take?

WRIGHT: We'll take the majority of Venezuelan exports

Aside from all the other reasons this is insane, it is taking up huge diplomatic (and maybe military) bandwidth from real security problems in Europe. A real crisis that's completely manufactured by one man. Europe needed to do more, is doing more, don't waste its time (and of course, it's wrong).
Now confirmed: the extraordinary summit of EU leaders to address the Greenland crisis will take place in Brussels on Thursday, 22 January.

It will start, quite unusually, at 19.00 CET.

Pew Research Institute (2023):

• Red State Texas has about 2.1 million undocumented immigrants

• Red State Florida has 1.6 M undocumented immigrants

• Blue State Minnesota has 130,000.

And yet only Minnesota is being occupied by masked thugs over "immigration."

It's *not* about immigration.

When I lecture to students about how the apparently thriving economy of the 1920s was really a house of cards just waiting to be knocked down, one of the points I stress is how much a small number of the very rich were essentially propping up consumer spending in unsustainable ways
The top 10% now account for nearly half of all consumer spending.

Establishment Dems responding to the threatened annexation of Greenland by messaging about cost of living issues really don’t understand that to Europeans it looks like they either don’t see this as a crisis or are tacitly in favor of it. 1/x

It's funny that one of the things people learn as very small children is "you get better at doing the thing by doing the thing."

Everyone learns this as a small kid, it is very obviously completely true.

And using genAI manages to instantly make people forget it, and start arguing about it.

First, why are they counting "verbal assaults" which are just protected free speech? Is someone actually counting every time someone says, "Fuck ICE?" Seriously?

Second, what exactly do they consider criminal aliens? And if 70% are "criminal," does that mean 30% of arrests are innocent people?
"We've seen over a thousand percent increase in assaults on ICE officers, 8,000 verbal assaults on them...."

Many Americans are terrible neighbors to each other, and that is why MN is striking everyone as extraordinary activism... when they are telling us that it is not. They're good neighbors!

It's no wonder that "being a shitty neighbor" is the hallmark of our domestic politics and our foreign policy.

I've heard rumors that Philadelphia is next for the ICE invasion after Minneapolis.
Maybe I'm wrong, but
1) More than 11% of all ICE agents are in Minneapolis, and they've utterly failed to pacify the city.
2) Philly is 5x the size of Minneapolis.
3) "Minnesota nice" is a thing. We don't have that.
