Minneapolis City Council President. He/Him
Pinned
ICE just indiscriminately stopped a citizen at a bus stop in front of the co-op. If this is how they treat the President of the Minneapolis City Council who is legally observing, just think of what they’re doing to everyone else in our City.
An 18 year old was taken today in the Hennepin County Government Center.

Any leader thinking collaborating with ICE will be good and help end this surge is forgetting that no one in our community is expendable.

I've advised small businesses here for over 2 decades, and worked directly with the City for at least half of that on programs to assist them. The progressives of council are the ONLY ones who are ever pushing for actual funding and programming to help those businesses. Thank you CM Chavez et al!
I’m excited to announce that my colleagues and I are proposing a $5 million program meant to support small businesses impacted by “Operation Metro Surge” in Minneapolis. 1/

ICE is having a devastating impact on our small businesses here in Minneapolis. Businesses are having to close because of the terror ICE is inflicting on our community.

Now is the time to reach out to your federal representative to let them know you don’t support funding DHS.

We’re never going to turn our backs on our neighbors and stop exercising our constitutional rights. No amount of meetings with Tom Homan or anyone in the Trump administration will change our community’s resolve.

This only ends when every DHS agent leaves and they no longer exist to terrorize us.

The goal of Tom Homan switching out for Gregory Bovino is purely optics and damage control. It's not actually a change in their tactics of intimidation and indiscriminate apprehension.

Another classic post-Homan day where around school dismissal time we get a flurry of ICE vehicles all across our neighborhoods. Today one vehicle led an observer to their own home and pointed at it. This is a sick game to them, but we won’t be intimidated and we won’t stop until DHS is abolished.

It’s been another very active day today in Northeast with someone being abducted on St Anthony Parkway & Central.

Regardless of what the federal government says, it’s still very active with the same illegal tactics being used by ICE. We still need everyone out protecting our neighbors.

In case you’re wondering if whistling and cameras work, today when agents were coming out of Burger King and I was at the door directly in front of them as they walked out they went “oh fuck” and quickly pulled up their masks and ran back to their car before driving off.
There was so much ICE activity today. A group of agents spent the whole morning inside Jimmy’s Bar and then ended up driving erratically all throughout the Holland & Como neighborhoods, eventually trying to park at the 2nd precinct police station.

ICE is very active right now including indiscriminately stopping people on 37th & Central. There’s also ICE vehicles active in Holland, Como, and St Anthony East neighborhoods all at the same time as of 12 PM here on Saturday.

Spend your weekend outside and help protect your neighbors.

We’ve seen lots of reports of legal observers being arrested in North Minneapolis, South Minneapolis, and Eden Prairie. Exercising your first amendment right to observe is not a crime.

This is exactly why congress can’t give another penny to DHS.

Tonight at 8:30 PM our constituent Ricky was pepper sprayed by ICE on 18th & Polk. 2 agents parked their car, got out and approached observers, started pepper spraying Ricky on public property, and then drove away and left.

Nothing is changing on the ground in Minnesota. ICE must be abolished.

Ricky was assaulted by ICE tonight for merely standing on public property.

In NE Minneapolis and Columbia Heights today, Weds. 2/5/26, ICE has been focusing on schools and schoolbus stops. SCHOOLS AND SCHOOLBUS STOPS. This is their “softer touch”
Everything you’re hearing from the Trump administration is a lie. Today was one of the most active days in Northeast since the entire Operation Metro Surge began.

Nothing is changing on the ground in Minneapolis, no matter what headlines Trump and Homan try to create.

Council President Payne: "there's no more urgent crisis than what we're going through right now." City's bond rating won't matter when it feels like we're on the brink of civil war.

This morning there was an ICE presence on McKinley street but then over 20 neighbors responded right away with their whistles and cameras and ICE left. This follows over a dozen ICE agents breaking into an apartment on Franklin Ave at 6 am this morning without presenting a warrant.
February 5, 2026 at 3:50 PM
While Tom Homan was trying to grab headlines this morning ICE was again circling our schools. They’ve been out all morning and no “drawdown” is enough until every single one of these agents is out of our state and DHS is abolished.

We just chased ICE off of Central Ave. We’re saying clearly that ICE needs to leave immediately and should not be funded.

One way you can help is by showing up tonight to caucus at 7 PM to support resolutions and candidates who are committed to not funding and completely dismantling ICE.

Picture from my ride in today. It feels weird going to City hall to sit in our chambers while our community is being terrorized by ICE, but I’m proud we’ll be bringing forward proposals to fund rental assistance and immigration legal services at our committee of the whole meeting today.

ICE is still here, surrounding schools in Columbia Heights today after Liam was returned.

Noem announced that ICE will be issued body cameras. This shows that we’re winning & that we can’t let up. Let your representatives know you don’t support funding ICE and that they need to leave immediately.

We celebrate the return of Liam & his father Adrian, while also knowing that ICE has been as active as ever staging at Powderhorn & Folwell park today.

Rent is due today for so many families and we have a big need at NE middle.
