I say lots about folks that take care of streets, but I don't say enough good things about the @cityofsaintpaul.bsky.social comms staff, esp in Public Works, that have to sift through lots of "salty" comments & respond with civility & useful information.

this is absolutely true of me. I’ve had so many conversations since moving across the river about this exact topic. yesterday completely violated my sense of who SPPD are. incredibly important to me that Mayor elect Her set this straight real fast.
Whatever one thought of it in the moment it's clear that a wide swath of Saint Paul residents have given SPPD a lot of good faith assumptions during an era when policing is under greater scrutiny. And I think today is gonna mark a major shift in that sentiment for a significant chunk of citizens.

At a meeting last night of 300 people all dedicated to stopping fascism. Saw only a few people I knew & definitely not all Bluesky types (was especially cheered by the woman in the KTIS hat). No illusions about uphill battle, but this was about direct action; community vibing together was uplifting.
