this entire thread is a must read.
I wonder what they think of the rest of the content if they believe sending the trailer alone to a "gray-suited centrist dad type" wouldn't garner the same reaction. But it's not a new idea! The past decade has been governed by the idea that there's a normie threshold it's irresponsible to cross.

people pirate most stuff when they're broke as shit and buy all they can when they're not, except for all the shit you can't see without piracy 'cause no one sells it. people pay when they have the cash and, increasingly, they have no cash. blame The End Of Mass Prosperity In The Imperial Core.
piracy discourse is so exhausting and passe, but i will observe that every truly great collector of physical media I know has a big harddrive of pirated books and movies. you literally cannot have one without the other

As Valve will never admit wrongdoing or their own cartoonish, well-documented inconsistency (because they'd have to re-review SO much and nobody at the company wants to do that), the only option left is to ensure Santa Ragione doesn't go bust. Which means buying games somewhere other than Steam.

i won't explicitly evoke my goofy as fuck catchphrase but there is something really insidious to me about this unheaded cultural movement towards an aesthetic of having no-one be responsible, and as a result creating and submitting to obfuscated systems of control

Spoke to my source familiar with internal workings at Mastercard. The holiday call campaign re payment processor censorship is working, there is a lot of pressure being felt from your calls. This is resulting in increased response times at a core moment for Mastercard due to the holiday season

This is such a bummer. FIST was a beautiful game. I'd expect that team to respect the value of art, but it sounds like they want players shitting on it with user-prompted AI slop.

Jennifer English realizing she's a lesbian and falling in love with one of her mocap directors (Aliona Baranova) over the course of making BG3 and seeing all the queer folks embracing Shadowheart and the impact the game had is genuinely one of the best stories in game production in a long time
Congrats to Jennifer English for winning the Best Lead Performer award at the 2025 #GoldenJoystickAwards!

And her acceptance speech about queer joy was a love letter to @aliona.bsky.social 🥹🌈

Roblox, the game with a reputation for enabling child abuse, wants kids to send it photos of themselves so the game can find out exactly how old they are. Not just differentiating kids and adults, but sorting kids into demographic categories.

ICE isn't welcome in Charlotte. General Cornwallis called us a "hornet's nest of rebellion" way back in 1780, and we haven't lost our spines since. Bless their hearts if they think we're going to roll over for masked cowards terrorizing our friends and neighbors.

It is looking increasingly likely that Ana - probably the person most involved in organizing protests against payment processor censorship recently - is getting hit by retaliation by those organizations.
Friend tried to donate to my Throne, flagged by fraud detection at Bank of America — bank identified the transaction as specially for “giantess voretuber Ana Valens”

I suspect I faced those Patreon / Ko-fi dings b/c financial institutions have me, specifically, on record as a high risk recipient!

An interesting example of how it's easy to get trapped in "doing things for the sake of doing them" in gamedev how this thread showcases complex game desgin being done to allow this sort of thing but little examination of how that possibility space affects the world and the player's psychology
Hive mind.. whats the general thoughts on allowing players to brick their games by letting them kill NPCs? Are folk ok with that? any smart examples where it is recoverable?
November 15, 2025 at 7:46 PM
It's a mistake to value independence (not relying on others). Better to pursue autonomy (the freedom to govern yourself), which requires INTERdependence. Folks can't freely take risks and be their truest selves without robust support from the rest of society.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

I'm not sure why this is a big deal. It seems like this is a flashy way to describe improved Unicode support. Emoji of this kind are just glyphs. File systems have always had character set representation problems, and Unicode is a standard way to address them. What am I missing?
No no no begs every archivist. You are never going to be able to find anything. Please don’t start using emojis in file names. Who asked for this? What fresh hell is next?
