There's a sort of fake OOP thing in Lua where you set __index in a table's metatable to a "parent class" table. When you access an object's variable, if it's not in that table it searches up the chain to its parent looking for it

getting to the point in exploring love2d where i think it would be so much stronger (and more consistent) if they stopped mucking around in OOP. it's really making me appreciate how good pico-8 is and how solidly it commits to a procedural style
